WORK ILLUSTRATION: Responsible for supporting all aspects of the litigation and privacy practice, including the drafting of court documents, the review of transcripts, the preparation of affidavits of documents, the collection of responses to undertakings, responding to freedom of information requests, and the completion of litigation reporting. The Law Clerk receives guidance from and provides support to the Senior Manager, Litigation & Privacy and Senior Litigation & Privacy Counsel. The incumbent is expected to behave ethically and follow the established code of business conduct, policies and internal control procedures, laws and regulations governing Toronto Hydro. Toronto Hydro has implemented a mandatory vaccination requirement for all its employees. Proof of full vaccination will be required upon receiving a conditional offer of employment. Toronto Hydro will provide reasonable accommodation to individuals who cannot be vaccinated due to disability or any other ground protected by the Ontario Human Rights Code. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Litigation Support: Responsible for the coordination and preparation of routine correspondence with internal stakeholders to collect necessary information for the handling of files, monitoring court deadlines, ensuring statutory limitation periods are not missed (specific accountabilities include: making demands for payment, preparing and issuing court documents, preparing and issuing judgments and writs, preparing witness lists, preparing affidavits of documents, reviewing transcripts, collecting and compiling responses to undertakings, processing of settlement payments). Responsible for the start-to-finish process of payment of accounts, including paying bills, sending and receiving invoices, receiving payments and communicating with service providers.
