About Our Opportunity Reporting to the Executive Director, Public Health, the Director of Health Promotion is a key member of the Public Health leadership team whose mandate is to lead initiatives focused on promoting and protecting the health of Nova Scotians. The incumbent provides strategic leadership, direction, guidance and project management for health promotion strategy. This includes investment prioritization, risk planning, and outcome monitoring. They lead and direct a team that provides evidence-based research, policy analysis, strategic planning, monitoring and evaluation of a range of health promotion programs, policies, and services that are responsive to the changing needs of Nova Scotians and are aligned with the overall strategic vision and priorities of the Department. This work takes place in accordance with DHW’s legislated responsibilities under the Health Protection Act which requires close collaboration with the Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health and other government departments and health partners with shared responsibilities in health promotion.
