Term of Appt: Jan 29 - Jun 23, 2024 (4 hrs every Monday) Start date: January 29, 2023 Reporting to: Associate Dean of Academic & Vocational Programs Salary: $46.44 - $55.11/hr, depending on experience and qualifications as per the BCGEU Faculty Collective Agreement. Temporary employees receive an additional 2% in lieu of benefits on regular earnings, 6% vacation and 4.2% statutory holiday pay included with each pay day. Description: NLC's Practical Nursing Program requires a temporary, part-time instructor to deliver APNP 130: Professional Communication A. This course provides learners with the foundational knowledge for caring and professional communication in nursing. It uses an experiential and self-reflective approach to develop self-awareness and interpersonal communication skills in the context of safe, competent, and collaborative nursing practice. Topics, including communication theory, the nurse-client relationship, therapeutic communication, cross-cultural communication, effective teamwork, learning and teaching concepts, will be covered. Learners have the opportunity to develop professional communication skills with clients requiring continuing and end of life care. Prep time to take place beginning January 29th, with students in class as of February 12th. This position can be based in either Dawson Creek or Fort St John, BC. Qualifications: Required: Completion of an accredited Diploma in Practical Nursing or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, or another relevant undergraduate degree or professional qualification may be considered. Current practicing license as an LPN, RPN, RN or NP with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives or another relevant professional license. Minimum two years (full-time equivalent) of recent Canadian experience in a health care profession. Ability to function effectively as a team member.
