Position Summary: The accountant is responsible for managing accounting related financial processes and functions of the organization including eight medical locations. Analyzes financial information and prepares financial reports for the various business units. Maintain a record of assets, liabilities, profit and loss as well as tax liability for the organization. Will also be responsible for fixed asset control and depreciation; manage necessary accruals to meet anticipated liabilities. File appropriate tax forms and preparation of general tax reports. Demonstrates a high level of ability in problem solving, highest level of accuracy and overall a strong financial acumen. Principle Duties and Responsibilities: Performs general cost accounting and other related duties in the accounting department. Prepares monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements. Prepares and analyzes monthly statistical reports. Maintains the general ledger. Manages Fixed Asset Books Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books. Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks. Reconciles customer accounts and manages accounts receivable collections. Verifies payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts. Performs internal audits and assists with external annual financial review. Files required tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies. As appropriate, coordinates with software vendor to maintain accounting software system; recommends updates to enhance the accounting software. Manages 401K plan and annual audit. Other duties as assigned Work Relationship and Scope: The Accountant reports directly to the CFO. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Bachelor's Degree in accounting, business or a related field with 2 years of experience is preferred Associates Degree in Accounting along with 5 years of experience is required Effective communication both orally and in written format is required In-depth knowledge of Excel is required Exceptional interpersonal skills are required Excellent problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail Ability to work well under pressure Working conditions: Work is generally performed at the main clinic; 800 N. First Street, Wausau, WI. Hours of work will be dependent on the needs of the Clinic. Requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Occasional lifting (30 pounds), bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and climbing stairs is required.
