Concordia University Chicago (CUC) invites applications for the full-time, exempt position of Director of Campus Engagement. This position reports directly to the Assistant Dean of Students for Campus Life and is located in River Forest, IL. The Director of Campus Engagement is primarily responsible for working with students to enhance their development and engagement at the University by providing opportunities for leadership training, social engagement, multicultural growth, and developmental activities to enhance their Concordia experience. This position will work collaboratively with the Director of Residence Life, Director of Athletics, Director of University Events, Director of Alumni Relations, Director of Undergraduate Admissions, Spiritual Life and other key university personnel. The selected candidate must demonstrate a commitment to a Christian, faith-based collegiate experience and will exhibit behavior that is consistent with an individual who serves with integrity and good character. Responsibilities/Duties: Oversees the development and coordination of First-Year Orientation programming, including Jump Start and Welcome Week Develops and coordinates programming to support first generation student success and engagement Serves as a co-advisor for the Student Government Association Develops and facilitates events and programs to specifically serve the University commuter population Oversees the efforts of the Campus Activities Board (CAB), a student programming body that oversees events such as Homecoming Week, Spring Formal, and monthly social programs Collaborates and coordinates with academic departments, Spiritual Life, Center for International Student Services, Athletics, and Alumni Relations for event planning, promotion, and awareness Promotes campus involvement opportunities through various means, such as planning and implementing cultural celebrations on a monthly basis (i.e. Hispanic Heritage Month, MLK Day, Black History Month, Chinese New Year, Cinco de Mayo, etc.), holding a Campus Involvement Fair each semester, and marketing and promoting clubs and organizations throughout the year Develops a student activities programming calendar for distribution Serves as a resource to all student-based clubs/organizations, as well as their assigned advisors by creating and distributing the student organization handbook Participates in university events such as undergraduate admission open houses and visit days Assists with procuring grants and leading initiatives that help to support students of color in their academic pursuits Candidates must support and be committed to the mission and identity of Concordia University Chicago, a university of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod (LCMS) Skill Sets: Enthusiastic supporter of Lutheran higher education and the mission, vision, and core values of Concordia University Chicago Effective at project management in a self-directed environment, including taking initiative, being self-motivated, setting timelines, organizing work with attention to detail, and following through on tasks Effective communication skills, including written, interpersonal, and public speaking Demonstrated ability to build collaborative interpersonal relationships Detail-oriented with the ability to accurately prepare records and reports Adept at leading, training, supervising, and evaluating office personnel Ability to be flexible and adaptable Ability to effectively work with diverse student populations with demonstrated awareness and sensitivity A commitment to providing superior care to students including a strong work ethic and flexibility to respond to student needs outside of traditional office hours Must be able to work evenings and weekends as needed Minimum Experience Required: 1-2 years' experience in management is required 1-2 years' experience in event planning is required 1-2 years' experience in working with college students is preferred Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in student development or related field preferred Compensation and Benefits: Starting range is dependent upon individual qualifications and experience.
