Position Responsibilities: Functions as a first or second scrub under the direct supervision of the perioperative RN Assisting physicians in surgery by anticipating the need for surgical instruments and supplies Gathers appropriate equipment and supplies for each surgical procedure in advance of cases Appropriately collects pathology specimens and provides accurate documentation per facility policy Responsible for practicing and maintaining sterile technique Understands how to use and sterilize surgical instruments Takes the lead in the orientation and education of new staff and students, as directed Clean and maintain surgical equipment utilizing appropriate precautions Inspecting operating rooms for cleanliness and equipment condition; stocking and maintaining rooms with adequate supplies Maintaining patient confidentiality and complying with all HIPAA rules and regulations Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent Surgical Technician Certification is required Minimum 2 years of prior surgical technician experience is required Knowledge of basic Surgical Technology principles and protocols Able to stand, walk, sit, squat, pull, push, and lift over 50 pounds Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills Ability to effectively communicate and interact with patients, families, and staff from diverse backgrounds ORA Orthopedics is the Quad Cities' largest and most comprehensive orthopedic provider, proudly offering an integrated continuum of orthopedic care that includes orthopedic sub-specialty clinics, walk-in care at our Urgent OrthoCARE clinics, diagnostic imaging, bracing, physical therapy, pharmacy and outpatient surgery.
