At Denali Family Services we serve children who require intensive behavioral health care services and support for their families. The Chief Financial Officer will be responsible for the Agency's financial reporting needs, compliance with state and federal audits, and work closely with Senior Management to ensure all financial objectives are met. This position is responsible for observing policies, procedures, and safeguards to protect the privacy of health information in compliance with the HIPAA Privacy (Privacy Rule). Essential Functions of the Position: Oversight of the Agency's annual budgeting process. Oversight of the Agency's Finance Department. Preparation of financial statements and financial reports. Ensure compliance with all financial reporting to regulatory and government agencies. Oversee the preparation of the 990 and 403(b) 5500 filings. Ensure compliance with Medicaid and Third-Party billing requirements. Responsible for the grant financial reporting function to ensure timely and accurate compliance with grant requirements. Primary contact for the annual financial statement and federal/state single audits of Agency including coordination with independent auditors and drafting of financial statements. Prepares and presents financial and operating information to the Board of Directors (BOD). Develops strategies to attain short-term and long-term financial and operational goals. Assists the CEO in directing the development of the organization to ensure future growth. Other Duties & Responsibilities: Implement and monitor regulatory requirements and practices. Ensure Agency is in compliance with all state and federal laws, regulations, and third-party systems. Maintain positive professional working relationships with the general public, including referral agencies and families. Maintain positive working relationships with all employees. Promote a positive, team approach to problem solving with all employees. Participate in agency employee training and meetings as required. Other duties as assigned. Position Requirements: Minimum Requirements : Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in accounting, finance, business, or closely related degree with five years of accounting or finance experience. Prior experience in healthcare industry and managing grants. Preferred: CPA, CMA, or HMFA designation, MBA and/or previous Carelogic experience. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Knowledge of Medicaid Billing. Knowledge of subject matter and related regulations, policies and procedures applicable to financial responsibilities and related programs. Understanding of risk management, to include auditing, internal control procedures, fraud monitoring, and waste reduction. Experience preparing tax filings including form 941, State of Alaska ESC forms, W-2s, and 1099s. Proficient with Microsoft Office, accounting applications, and other associated software. Ability to positively influence others to achieve goals and objectives. Ability to align with Agency's mission to achieve established goals and objectives. Ability to train, evaluate and supervise employees. Ability to develop budgets, monitor expenditures, review and understand financial reports, and take corrective action, when necessary. Ability to research and interpret state and federal statutes and regulations. Ability to maintain positive professional working relationships and to work effectively within a team environment. Organized, efficient, and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent interpersonal communication skills and good written communication. Ability to ensure consumer and employee confidentiality as prescribed by agency policy and federal law. Knowledge and understanding of all agency protocol, policy, and procedure. Ability to act decisively and with fairness. Ability to read, speak and write in English. Ability to pass a State and FBI background check in accordance with the State of Alaska Background Checking Unit. Physical Requirements : Ability to perform sedentary work. Visual acuity necessary to utilize a computer monitor throughout the course of a normal workday. Ability to perform repetitive keyboarding activities and operate general office equipment. Ability to communicate verbally, both in person and over the telephone. Working Conditions: Work is performed in a community mental health center.
