Temporary Maintenance Specialist - Administration

The Maintenance Specialist will be responsible for the installation, repairs, and maintenance of water, sewage, drainage, air, gas and HVAC systems, rest rooms, and other building systems. This person will operate equipment and use tools, respond to maintenance requests with a thorough assessment of the problem and the plan to repair or replace the equipment to restore the system or equipment to full functionality. Multiple positions are available. This is a temporary position with multiple openings available. The expected duration for this position is three months. Candidates must apply by 5/03/23 in order to be considered for first round interviews. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required . EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE : High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and a minimum of 3 years of work experience in facility maintenance, military or public services; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Experience assessing and problem-solving maintenance issues and making repairs that meet quality and safety standards. Safely operate a vehicle, and a variety of power/hand tools and testing devices. Able to respond quickly to rare occasional after-hours facility emergencies. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS Driver qualifications required for this position. Driver license, auto insurance and satisfactory drive record for the past 5 years are required . Candidate must pass pre-employment drug screen to drive agency vans. Candidate must pass a comprehensive MWVCAA background screening prior to employment. This position is subject to MWVCAA's Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccination Policy. Successful registration with the Office of Child Care Central Background Registry. **ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Works cooperatively with management to receive orders, assess, communicate and make repairs as recommended. Completes agency building drywall repairs, painting and any other internal building, window and flooring repairs. Installs and repairs plumbing distribution in kitchens and throughout the agency sites. Implements and handles preventative maintenance of all agency equipment and update appropriate logs ( eg. water heaters, furnaces, etc.) Inspects buildings, facilities and equipment to ascertain required repairs and make recommendations to supervisor. Transports materials, tools and equipment to work site for installation and/or repair. Responds to calls for service during emergencies as determined by agency management. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities. Required to frequently reach with hands and arms; regularly required to climb or balance; occasionally required to stand; walk; stoop, kneel, bend, twist, crouch, or crawl. Manual dexterity for handling equipment. Regular push/pull of 50 pounds. Ladder and overhead reaching work frequently required . Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision, distance vision, close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT Indoor and outdoor work environment in a variety of weather (heat, cold, wet) with frequent interruptions and demands. Exposure to trash and potential biohazards. Occasional interaction with the public and clients. Potential risk of exposure to COVID-19 and other infectious conditions. Face coverings and other PPE may be required . *COVID-19 Alert: This position includes performing essential services during the COVID-19 pandemic and potential exposure to others who may be infected with the virus.
