The Project Engineer, Lunar Dust Instrumentation will support the JETS II contract supporting NASA's pursuits in deep space exploration. RESPONSIBILITIES: The Project Engineer will be responsible for ordering parts, kitting, building, and testing hardware for the Lunar Dust Level Sensor & Effects of Surfaces (LDES). Develop project documentation and maintain status of drawings, procurements, risks, etc. Work with design and analysis teams to ensure project requirements are achieved. Inspection of hardware upon receipt to verify match with fabrication drawing/models. Test rig and equipment buildup as needed. Data analysis of test results. Assist project management with configuration control of project documentation. Development of test procedures including working with various organizations across JSC for flight certification of hardware. Develop presentations as needed. Work in a team environment and report to the team lead to provide status on progress, issues, and needed support. Perform other duties as required. REQUIRED: This position has been posted at multiple levels. This position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status due to the sensitivity of customer related information. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering and a minimum of 1+ years of experience in the field or in a related area. Possess a valid driver's license and be capable of carrying hardware (up to 25lb) up a flight of stairs. DESIRED: Bachelor's degree in engineering (preferably electrical engineering) from an accredited engineering school, or MS degree from an accredited engineering school, or Ph.D. from an accredited engineering school. 5 or more years of Project Engineering experience. Previous experience in designing and building unique hardware. Previous experience with NASA JSC policies and procedures. Previous assembly and testing experience. WORK LOCATION: This position offers a 9/80 schedule, every other Friday off. STANDARD BASTION REQUIREMENTS: Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite. All of Bastion's employees must be team players. Able to communicate effectively with internal and external customers. Able to follow company programs, processes, procedures, practices, requirements, goals, and objectives. Must have a strong work ethic and must be safety culture oriented. Must be organized with good time management skills. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task. Will work with, and around, standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.). Professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time). ATTENDANCE: Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements. BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED: All Bastion employees must be able to pass a national agency check, some positions require a clearance and will require an extensive background verification/check process.
