SEVIS Coordinator/Compliance Officer

Concordia University Chicago (CUC) invites applications for the full-time, exempt position of SEVIS Coordinator/Compliance Officer. This position reports directly to the Director of International Student Services and is located in River Forest, IL. The SEVIS Coordinator/Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring institutional compliance with DHS and DOS immigration regulations for students with F and J non-immigrant status through mandatory SEVIS data reporting. This position serves as advisor in the capacity of DSO for the F-1 student population, and as ARO for the J-1 exchange visitor program. The individual selected for this position will also coordinate and implement departmental policies and procedures by developing internal reports and maintaining the International Student Services department's Standard Operating Procedures and SEVIS Protocols manuals. Responsibilities/Duties: Advises F-1 and J-1 non-immigrant students on maintenance of non-immigrant legal status and issues immigration documents for F-1 and J-1 students and their dependents Educates and authorizes F-1 students participating in internships for Curricular Practical Training (CPT) and Optional Practical Training (OPT), and assists with the application process Liaises with federal agencies including ICE/SEVP Customs and Border Protection (CBP), USCIS, and the Social Security Administration Manages and maintains Terra Dotta student management software to process student requests Complies with SEVIS event-based and periodic data reporting obligations within applicable regulatory deadlines Analyzes and manages the integrity of highly sensitive data in BANNER and the SEVIS system and reconciles data to ensure individual and school compliance with evolving federal regulations Educates F-1 and J-1 students' on their rights and responsibilities and advises on applying and carrying out requests such as program extension, reduced course load, travel, dependents, etc. Candidates must support and be committed to the mission and identity of Concordia University Chicago, a university of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod (LCMS) Skill Sets: Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications and student management databases Accuracy and consistency in administrative functions Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively in a quickly changing environment Good time management skills Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with students, university personnel, and other constituents Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally Demonstrated cultural sensitivity to the concerns of international students Enthusiastic supporter of Lutheran higher education and the Concordia University Chicago mission Minimum Experience Required: 3-5 years recent experience working with F-1 and J-1 international students and scholars in a post-secondary institution is required Previous Terra Dotta experience is strongly preferred Previous Banner experience is strongly preferred Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree required Compensation and Benefits: Starting range is dependent upon individual qualifications and experience.
