This role supports faculty and students in all aspects of technology integration, innovation, and use in teaching, learning, and research. They provide consultation to integrate technology into pedagogy and provide technical support for teaching and learning in both physical and virtual spaces. They have primary responsibility to support a portfolio of learning technologies and partner with LITS staff to create any necessary technology integrations; create and provide training materials and experiences in-person and online for faculty; provide consultation, training and assistance on a variety of instructional, multimedia and emerging technologies and pedagogies; improves student engagement, student achievement, and digital literacy skills by facilitating faculty professional growth and development on the selection and integration of appropriate technologies for their discipline and learning objectives; and participates in the evaluation and selection of the latest instructional technology software and hardware. Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities: Research, Instruction, and Engagement Leads the design, development, and delivery of an innovative information and digital literacy outreach program and associated learning activities focused on student success aligned with curricular and co-curricular programs. Collaborates with faculty and campus partners to identify, implement and promote student academic success through information literacy, digital literacy, and academic skill initiatives including the use of digital tools and techniques to create academic work. Coordinates an ongoing, innovative program of academic and research support for students in collaboration with LITS staff. Consults with students and teach in a variety of styles and utilizing a wide range of information and digital tools, including OCLC/WMS. Creates informative and engaging displays on a diverse range of topics relevant to the community. Creates and coordinates outreach and programming opportunities, collaborates with campus stakeholders, and participates in campus events. Leads outreach efforts by identifying and developing strategies to enhance perceptions of LITS and engagement with its resources, services, and programs. Acts as a liaison with assigned departments, paying close attention to student diversity organizations and special populations such as students with learning differences, academically at-risk students, distance education students, international students, non-traditional adult undergraduates and employed professionals. Responsible for creating and maintaining relationships with these departments to encourage collaboration in research and instruction. Instructional Design and Technology Assists faculty in selecting, implementing, and using technologies that complement their pedagogical and research approaches. Suggests effective instructional strategies and offering solutions for delivering course content and achieving academic outcomes. Provides primary technical support for faculty and students using teaching and learning technologies in the academic program including in classrooms, campus spaces, and virtual learning environments. Oversees the strategic planning of technologies for teaching and learning in the classrooms and public spaces. Supports and manages a portfolio of learning technologies, including the campus learning management system. Develops, maintains, and distributes documentation explaining use and operation of academic software and hardware technologies. Collaborates with LITS colleagues to assess, develop, implement, and support audio-visual and computing technologies for teaching and learning in classrooms, teaching labs, campus spaces, and virtual learning environments. Coordinates between faculty, LITS staff, and campus technology vendors to maintain and update classroom technology. Collaborates with LITS colleagues to imaginatively and creatively research, design, develop, and deliver classroom training workshops and professional development opportunities related to using technology for teaching, learning and research. Consults with individual faculty members and departments to identify, facilitate, and implement academic uses of information technologies to achieve teaching and learning goals in a variety of different classroom settings, including traditional, distance learning, and hybrid models. Works collaboratively to plan and achieve department goals and priorities, coordinating work with other LITS staff as well as faculty, staff, and students. Keep abreast of trends, developments, best practices, and technologies as appropriate for this position and make recommendations to LITS for changes to the portfolio of academic technologies. Ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate work requirements, including occasional evening and weekend hours. Credentials and Experience: Bachelor's degree and 5 years of direct experience required. Master's degree, especially in library or information science, preferred. Undergraduate or graduate coursework or prior work experience in instructional/educational technology or related fields that support the requirements of the position strongly preferred. Professional certifications related to teaching and learning technologies, computer technology, audio-visual technology and participation in technology-related professional organizations helpful. Prior experience in a higher education environment is preferred and experience in a small, private, liberal arts setting is especially preferred. Experience with common instructional technologies, such as learning management systems (Moodle, Blackboard, D2L, Canvas, etc.), online collaboration/instructional software, video/image capture and editing, audio-visual presentation and control systems, productivity software, online training platforms, and web content management software, required.
