Golden Valley Electric Association (GVEA) is looking to hire a full-time Accountant II as part of the Finance Team located in Fairbanks, AK . GVEA is an electric cooperative which maintains 3,261 miles of transmission and distribution lines, 35 substations, and 9 generating facilities. Our system is interconnected with Fort Wainwright, Eielson AFB, Fort Greely, the University of Alaska-Fairbanks, and all of the electric utilities in the Alaska Railbelt, extending from Homer to Fairbanks. As part of a team, our Accountant II ensures financial and statistical information is accurately reflected in GVEA's system of accounts including subsidiary records and balanced to the general ledger. They provide advanced accounting support through detailed analysis and interpretation of financial data with recommendations. The accountant is responsible for key areas which may include financial accounting, payroll, regulatory and financial reporting. GVEA Accountant II plays an integral role in our ability to serve the Interior of Alaska by providing reliable electric service at fair and reasonable prices! QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN ACCOUNTANT II Bachelors' degree in Accounting or related field. Commensurate experience will be consider in lieu of degree requirement. Minimum six years of progressively responsible accounting experience. Minimum four years of project management experience. Cooperative and/or utility experience preferred. Strong background with fully integrated computerized accounting systems preferred. Do you have excellent communication skills? Do you have technical and theoretical knowledge of finance and accounting principles with an emphasis on payroll? Can you work with minimal supervision? Are you attentive to detail?
