Job Description Title: Senior Director of Development Engineering Reports to: President Pay: Exempt Sum mary: Leadership of engineering and material expertise center responsible for developing and engaging talented team to design, prove, scale and sustain production of custom products to customer's critical needs. Duties/Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Develop capabilities and expertise of team to enable continued differentiation. Follow all quality procedures, ensuring that applicable quality standards are achieved. Establishing goals for engineering team and advising and executing to achieve objectives on time. Work closely with customers and sales teams on design for manufacturability; defining requirements, understanding failure modes, and translating into robust production processes, agreed specifications, as well as test methods and tolerances. Prioritize and manage projects across team; including prototyping, development, trouble shooting and improvements resulting in sustainable high-quality processes to produce and measure products to customers' specifications. Guide team to work together with the operations/manufacturing team to transfer to production and scale. Own the product development process including phases and phase gates. Drive improvement through process standardization and optimization. Own engineering design standards, including standards for detailing and tolerancing products and materials. Own process/manufacturing procedure documentation. Lead completion of product/process development and documentation including writing engineering reports and executing appropriate design verification and validation protocols. Work with Supply Chain to select and develop suppliers of materials and equipment during new product development. Provide guidance and establish plans for qualifying new vendors. Establish and utilize project management tools to manage design engineering projects with timely reporting, issue escalation, and appropriate team recognition. Training/Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in engineering (preferably masters) and minimum 5-7 years leadership experience in medical OEM or medical contract manufacturing, with rotary or sheet converting experience preferred. Experience in robotics and packaging automation a plus. Solid understanding of film materials and adhesives or proven aptitude in materials expertise Related experience within international standards (ISO 9001 & 13485), FDA and European quality systems requirements (QSR, MDD), and risk management (ISO 14971, DFMEA and PFMEA). Competencies/Talents/Personal Attributes: Must exhibit exceptional communication, project management, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage his/her own priorities and workload while working in a team environment, managing others, and driving business improvements. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Adept at presenting complex topics to all levels, internally and to customers. Able to operate and thrive in a fast-paced, fluid environment. Excellent critical thinking skills with the capability to analyze and solve problems. Understanding of financial/business impact. Solid skills in writing and executing engineering studies, validation protocols, final reports, etc. Training and practical experience in applying Design for Six Sigma, Theory of Constraints, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and Root Cause Analysis concepts highly valued. Willing and able to travel, as needed. Solid understanding of Microsoft Office Tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, Visio, PowerPoint, and SharePoint). Proficiency in Minitab. Expert knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD software including Autodesk AutoCAD, Inventor, and Mechanical Desktop. EOE Minorities/Females/Vet/Disability Innovize is a drug and alcohol free workplace.
