EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related area and 2 years of experience in BSA Compliance OR Associates Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related area and 4 years of experience in BSA Compliance OR 6 years of experience in BSA Compliance SUMMARY The Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) Compliance Officer is responsible for the coordinating the development, implementation and administration of all aspects of the casino-wide Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) Compliance Program. This position monitors compliance with state and federal laws and regulations (including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), USA Patriot Act, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and OFAC. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Develop and/or revise policies, procedures, and programs in support of the administration of the casino's BSA program. Oversee and ensure regular training programs for employees on BSA-AML policies and procedures. Investigate transactions that are suspicious in nature and submit Suspicious Activity Reports for BSA-AML related activities. Review, MTL and MIL's and other related reports for proper preparation of CTR's Monitor and track BSA-AML high-risk guests and accounts. Perform the daily Title 31 audit function as described in the Title 31 procedures and complete the daily audit checklist. Manage the CTR process and ensure timely filing with FIN-CEN Assist administration of anti-money laundering/OFAC software to monitor and report all BSA-related activities to management as directed. Coordinate with internal and external auditors, including regulatory examiners, during audits and examinations to provide requested information as well as interim consultation. Maintain proficient knowledge of applicable rules and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), USA Patriot Act, and OFAC and Grand Traverse Casino TICS Examine established policies, procedures, and practices to ensure compliance with laws and regulations. Stay current and informed with changes to federal and state banking laws and regulations affecting the management, operations, and product offerings of the casino. Coordinate with legal counsel and operating departments to ensure adherence to laws and regulations relating to new or revised products and services offerings. Oversee the revision, preparation, and dissemination of new and updated compliance standards and procedures. Prepare Suspicious Activity Reports for review by the Title 31 Compliance Committee and submit to FINCEN in a timely manner. Coordinate, supervise, and support casino's compliance-related programs, such as compliance training, compliance testing and reporting, disaster recovery, contingency planning, and records warehousing and destruction. Inform and advise management of conditions and status of establishment adherence to laws and regulations. Consult with and advise operating units and managers affected by compliance issues and regulatory requirements. Other duties as assigned by supervisor. OTHER NECESSARY SKILLS AND ABILITIES Attention to detail and accuracy is essential as well as the ability to handle multiple tasks. Must be able to work independently and have excellent organizational skills. Must possess good communication skills both verbal and written. Must have computer experience and a good working knowledge with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word. Must maintain a good working relationship between accounting and other enterprise departments and external agencies. DRIVING REQUIREMENTS Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable under the Tribes insurance carrier. SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS Must be able to obtain and maintain a gaming license Professional qualifications (preferred but not required) Certified Gaming Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (GAMS) Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) Certified AML and Fraud Professional (CAFP) or ABA Certificate in BSA and AML Compliance or a commitment to complete within two (2) years 2 years of experience with casino related software/tracking systems SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES No supervisory responsibilities. EQUIPMENT TO BE USED Computer, copier, fax machine, multi-line phone system, ten key calculator, and other general office equipment. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS May be required to lift up to 25lbs.occasionally. May also be required to reach, bend, stretch, kneel, crawl, lift and carry on occasion. Will be required to sit at a desk and work on a computer for extended period. May be required to work long hours when necessary. Should have corrected normal range of hearing and sight. TYPICAL MENTAL DEMANDS Must effectively handle stressful and compromising situations while remaining focused and professional. Must be able to deal with difficult people without losing perspective. Must be able to work productively under strict time restraints with variable deadlines. WORKING CONDITIONS Work performed is in both a smoking and non-smoking environment. Position may require occasional evenings, weekends and holidays. May be required to work over 40 hours per week. Some local and out of town travel may be required for further training and/or for the needs of the position. COMMENTS Tribal Preference and/or Native American Preference will apply. Must be able to pass a background investigation, drug, and alcohol testing as a condition of employment. Must be able to work flexible hours and to take on additional responsibilities when asked. Must adhere to company policies regarding strict confidentiality.
