Reports to: VP, Operations, US & Latin America Position Location: Richmond, VA Travel 25-30% Position SummaryReporting to the VP, of Operations, US & Latin America, the Markel Business System Leader (MBSL) will be responsible for facilitating successful implementation and utilization of Markel Business System (MBS) across AMF sites with the goal of building a high-performance culture focused on continuous improvement . This position will provide leadership and direction to site and functional leaders to formulate and implement Strategy Deployment Planning (SDP) and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) targets. Key Responsibilities Provide thought leadership to influence lean change at all levels of the organization Work with site and functional leaders to identify process and cost-improvement initiatives Facilitate problem-solving and kaizen events to drive targeted and sustainable improvements in QDCI (Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Innovation) that are tied to SDP and Daily Management Partner with ERP Project Manager to ensure on-time and on-budget ERP implementation across AMF sites Assist site/company leadership in the development of a kaizen roadmap (i.e., how to use the MBS tools to drive sustainable improvement in results) Assist with the creation of standard work to ensure processes produce consistent, high-quality results Facilitate site-level operations and SDP meetings Conduct regular MBS training and coaching and promote teammates' development in various MBS tools and kaizen leadership Ability to Lead, Facilitate, and Coach teams and leaders through problem-solving; using scientific methods. (A3, PDCA, or DMAIC) Establish lean reporting (financials and projects) to measure operational performance and productivity and report regularly to the management team Manage a portfolio of improvement projects to include a regular audit of implemented projects to ensure that process improvements are sustained, and benefits are realized Promote a culture of safety and drive accountability to maintain zero accident environment and ensure a safe and suitable work environment for teammates, vendors, suppliers, and visitors Required Knowledge/Skills & Experience Bachelor's degree in business or engineering Operations experience in an "engineer to order" or "configure to order" environment Demonstrated proficiency and results in applying lean principles 6 - Sigma Black Belt; SPC proficiency is a plus Strong interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to work and influence teammates across all levels of the organization Strong facilitation skills Proven change management skills Excellent project management skills LEADERSHIP IMPERATIVES / COMPETENCIES Relationship Building/Communication Skills - Demonstrates exceptional verbal skills in interpersonal interactions and instructional delivery so that the intended purpose is achieved.
