We are seeking CEI Inspectors to assist engineers and other professionals in the administration of highway construction projects located in the areas in and around Laredo, TX. Responsibilities: Assist in inspecting various roadways and structures' construction operations for compliance with contract documents, standards, and specifications. Review plans, analysis of engineering-related data, and construction surveying and layout. Perform and maintain daily record keeping of project activities, resolve daily constructability issues, and troubleshoot problems to mitigate delays. Monitor contractor's daily operations and performs and/or review test reports to ensure that all work and materials conform to specifications, plans, and contractual provisions. Document pay records, perform construction calculations, and computer/iPad entry Anticipate contractual problems and advise the supervisor of the need for plan revisions, supplemental agreements, or other contract adjustments to improve safety, timely delivery and/or quality of the delivered product. Effectively communicate and coordinate work with contractors, subcontractors, utility owners, and property owners to minimize delays and disturbances while maximizing the progress of the projects. Perform materials sampling and testing and input test results into various computer databases Skills and Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent, Associate degree in an applicable area of Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or a related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution is preferred 5+ years of progressive inspection level experience or equivalent combination of education and experience Working knowledge of mathematics in algebra, geometry, and trigonometry and the ability to apply formulas. Proficient in using iPad, Microsoft Office, Outlook, Dropbox and/or OneDrive. Ability to work independently, use own judgment and make decisions. Good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to perform required testing and maintain detailed reports. Ability to communicate effectively with agency and contractor personnel and the general public. Ability to read and interpret roadway, bridge, and structure plans and contract specifications. Must be able to walk over rough and uneven terrain and be able to stand up to 12 hours a day on occasion. Must have the ability to bend, stoop, kneel and twist, use hands to grasp and arms to reach, to raise hands above head, sit, climb and balance, and to work in confined spaces and heights with an adequate vision to perform tasks. Must be able to lift and carry up to 70 pounds, on occasion. Ability to work outside in various weather conditions. Valid Driver's license with a good driving record and driving ability.
