Light of Life Ministries is a leading non-profit in Pittsburgh. We seek guest services team members that are outgoing, empathetic, and persuasive. Specifically, we're recruiting Care Support Specialist s for our Women's Shelter . These individuals will work with people in varied circumstances related to homelessness, recovery, and mental illness. Work hours typically include weekend daylight shifts as well as evening, night, and daylight shifts during the regular work week. We believe each person is created uniquely by God and therefore is endowed with value and dignity. Light of Life is committed to building a staff community that reflects the diversity of His creation. ~ Jerrel Gilliam, Executive Director Responsibilities include: Assist in the daily operations of our Women's Emergency Shelter, Meal Ministry, as well as other associated outreach functions Monitor the building and its residents Transporting clients Securing donations Data entry Due to the interface with the clients, Light of Life considers every position to be essential in the fulfillment of our ministry and as such, requires employees to: Participate in the ministry of Light of Life Rescue Mission and walk alongside clients sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with them through actions and words. Resolve all issues in ways that promote the principles of Light of Life while following the processes described in the Light of Life staff handbook. Practice Christlike stewardship of all resources. Subscribe to and embrace Light of Life's Statement of Faith, Values, and Principles. Skills and Qualifications: Strong interpersonal skills, adept at building relationships with diverse groups of clients and volunteers Must be able to handle crisis and unexpected situations with calm and clear thinking Must model personal responsibility, accountability, timely reporting, and a self-evaluative lifestyle PA Driver's License with clean driving record required Computer literate Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED Knowledge of drug & alcohol recovery and mental illness preferred Light of Life offers a comprehensive benefits package including: Medical, Dental, Vision, and other benefits, which begin the 1st of the month following employment.
