Position Overview: Prepares histologic and cytologic specimens for microscopic analysis by the Pathologist and Cytotechnologist. Is responsible for embedding, cutting, mounting and staining tissue specimens. Performs immune histochemical and special stains. Performs all appropriate quality control materials and maintains records thereof. Essential Functions : a) Is responsible for embedding, cutting, mounting and staining tissue specimens. b) Performs immunoperoxidase and special stains. Physical Demands and Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and use hands along with fingers, to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Qualifications & Skills: a) Education: Associate Degree or at least 60 semester hours at an accredited college/university with a combination of 12 semester hours of biology and chemistry or two years experience in histopathology under the supervision of a pathologist. National registration by the ASCP in Histology preferred. b) Training & Experience: Requires a minimum of at least three years of full time experience in Histotechnology and two years experience in histopathology under the supervision of a Pathologist or an accredited school for Histotechnology. c) Job Knowledge: See above Job Posted by ApplicantPro
