Greenwood Mills, Inc., a family-owned textile manufacturing business located in Greenwood, SC that makes cloth for our US Military, employee uniforms, and more! We have been in business for more than 130 years! Currently seeks motivated employees to help operate state-of-the-art production textile machines! Your job as a Drawing Tender is to monitor and maintain 7 drawing frames which drafts yarn to make it stronger and unified. You will be shown the area with more description during the interview. Job Objective: Works with Slasher Leader and Slasher Tender to accomplish all aspects of the slashing process Obtain full section beam, haul to and position at slasher creel move empty section beam to storage rack and place in proper place on rack Doff full warps from slasher and place empty beam in slasher Record production information and make out ticket Haul full warp beams to storage rack and return with empty Weigh slasher waste, push to waste house and place in proper container Clean slasher at set out Lease ends Assist lay ends in expansion comb Patrol and inspect for quality Cut laps off rolls and beams Must be able to use overhead hoist to haul warps weighing up to 1500 lbs Must be able to climb and use a ladder Must be able to push waste buggies weighing up to 900 lbs Must be able to work safely around hot steam and liquid Must be able to work in temperatures slightly above the comfort zone Must be able to sweep and keep work area clean and organized Must be able to work safely around moving parts Must be able to read basic written instructions Must be able to write legibly Must be able to perform simple math Must be able to distinguish colors. Must be able to wear ear plugs, respirator/dust mask, goggles/eye protection, and other protective pieces of equipment.
