Job Title: Instrument and Controls Engineer Report to: Engineering Manager Summary: The Instrument & Controls Engineer is responsible to assist the Engineering Team in delivery of the project. The Instrument & Controls (I&C) Engineer will support design and installation of the instrument and controls systems for the client's project. The I&C Engineer will be closely involved in the performance monitoring of third-party contractors and suppliers of controls and instrumentations systems. The I&C Engineer will work closely with the wider project engineering team and the engineering contractors, providing technical oversight to ensure appropriate interface with other engineering systems and the project objectives. The I&C Engineer will ensure that design standards and specifications are adhered to and that all deliverables against project timelines are met. This role is vital to ensure the technical and execution aspects of the project receive the right engineering support required Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Promote and lead in the implementation of procedures, including Safety, health, environment, process, people and planning. Being able to work and lead in an integrated fashion is key to project success Skillfully works with peers to ensure coordination of the technical aspects of the project are integrated in a timely manner to support execution Delivers a project safety culture and acts as an icon towards HSE excellence. e.g. takes personal role in leading project site safety audits. The I&C Engineer collaborates closely with the Engineering Manager to ensure project success. The main duties of the role include: Oversee and lead the development of the design specifications for the I&C systems including securing third party contractors for all required systems and equipment to be purchased for the projects. The I&C Engineer will participate in executing functional safety activities including provision of expert level consultancy in ISO26262/IEC61508, technical planning, developing safety concepts, requirements and architecture, safety analyses at the system level (DFMEA, FTA etc.) and participate in process hazard analysis and safeguard protection analysis meeting sessions. The I&C Engineer is responsible for the development and integration of Functional Safety standards and industry common practices and lead the development of business unit Functional Safety training. Interface with EPC/EPF to ensure timely review of engineering documents Provide oversight and guidance for contract instrumentation engineers Provide 'in-house' engineering design, construction support, and startup assistance for the project Participates in the development of operation, maintenance, and start-up philosophies Reviews proposed changes to I&C equipment Confirms compliance of I&C systems to specifications Ensure all designs are safe to install and operate The role will also support in; Assisting with contractor performance management Provide guidance to contractors (e.g., regarding tradeoffs on design and cost, Owner preferences, etc.) Interface management with facility engineering contractors and system design contractors Assisting with response to technical queries (TQ's/RFI's) Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor's or Master's degree or equivalent in an appropriate/related field Preferred Qualifications: 10+ years of major international oil / gas projects in execution and delivery roles Demonstrated strong technical competency Ability to work within a diverse cultural environment Demonstrated interpersonal/teambuilding skills Strong written and oral communication skills Alaska experience preferred Disclaimer: The above information has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this classification.
