Position Overview: Performs evaluations, treatment, planning and implementation, and discharge planning for all patients. Manages all planning for all patients. Manages all assigned patients, paperwork that is associated, and aids in all department functions that are assigned by supervisor. Assists with ordering of supplies, maintaining safe environment, and aids in supervising or assignment of tasks and functions to COTA's, aids or volunteers. Will seek out continuing education and maintain effective communication with patients, family and other staff members. Essential Functions : a) Organizes and conducts occupational therapy programs for hospital inpatients and/or patients. b) Occupational therapists provide direct patient care in the application of purposeful, goal directed activity in the evaluation, identification, and/or treatment of persons whose function is impaired by physical illness or injury, emotional disorder, congenital or developmental disability or the aging process, in order to achieve optimum functioning, to prevent disability and to maintain health. c) Staff therapist will aid in process of assisting COTA and aids with assignments. Qualifications & Skills: a) Education: Graduated from an accredited program with a Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy. b) Training & Experience: Successful completion of two twelve-week internships as an occupational therapy student intern. BLS required within 3 months. c) Job Knowledge: Successful completion of Occupational Therapy Registration Exam carrying designation of Occupational Therapist Registered (OTR).
