Job Description: The Department of Agriculture and Nutrition Science at Southern Utah University is seeking qualified applicants for two Assistant Professor or Lecturer positions (depending on qualifications) to start fall semester of 2023. A completed PhD degree in Human Nutrition/Dietetics or a related discipline is required for a tenure-track, assistant professor position. An M.S. degree is required for a non-tenure track, lecturer position. Date of first consideration: 03/19/2023 Duties and Responsibilities: Teach and advise undergraduate students majoring in Human Nutrition. Courses may include: Scientific Foundations of Human Nutrition, Infant and Child Nutrition, Food Service, Food Science and Lab, Food Sustainability, Management in Dietetics Graduate Capstone courses, Senior Seminar, along with possible other courses. Primary emphasis is on teaching. However, scholarly activity, professional commitment, and service to the university are expected and required for advancement. Collaborate with colleagues to evaluate and accommodate changes and improvements within the department, college, and university. Initiate and carry out appropriate scholarly work in Human Nutrition, including mentoring undergraduate research and graduate students. Participate in department and campus community committees as assigned. Education and Experience Requirements: PhD degree in Human Nutrition/Dietetics or closely related field from an accredited university required for a tenure-track, assistant professor position. Candidates with an M.S. degree will be considered for a non-tenure track, lecturer position. Registered Dietitian Nutritionist preferred. The RDN credential needs to be obtained within the U.S. Experience teaching at the university level is preferred. Workload expectation 80% teaching, 20% service and scholarship Ability to work as a mentor in undergraduate and graduate research. Ability to incorporate technology into teaching. Ability to incorporate experiential education into teaching. Demonstrated communication, interpersonal skills and a team player. Involvement with professional organizations.
