Practice in family oriented, patient-focused organization where your skills and knowledge are appreciated and valued! 0.3 FTE (24 hours in a 2 week pay period) Shifts: 24-hour shifts . 12 on duty, 12 on call. Call pay is $12/hr . Sunday-Saturday rotating days, weekends, and holidays, must be willing to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the department. Mitchell County EMS is a Paramedic transport service owned by MCRHC, a Level 4 critical access hospital in Osage, Iowa. We respond to approximately 1100 calls each year including 911 and inter-facility transfers. We provide 911 ALS coverage to all of Mitchell County including Paramedic intercepts. Our inter-facility transfers are predominantly to Mercy One-North Iowa, (31 miles), and Mayo in Rochester, (61 miles). We are a 100% offline ALS protocol-based service following national current best care practices. Paramedics must be able to function independently, critically think, and multi-task at all times. You will be working with an EMT most times and need the ability to lead care in a competent manner consistent with national standards of ALS care. Previous experience is highly suggested. Some of our equipment includes Life Pak 15 monitors (with NIBP, 12-lead, SPO2 ,CO, ETCO2), Glide scope, power load cots, Baxter IV pumps, Lucas CPR device, Eagle Vent, ZOLL AEV transport ventilator w/ Bi-PAP/CPAP, Airvo. Staff may also assist with patients in the Emergency Department when needed. So far this year staff have been allocated $1500 in retention bonuses. We have a great Medical Director and excellent working relationships with our physicians/ mid-levels, and nursing staff. This position reports to the Director of Emergency Medical Services and functions to support the policies and procedures of the Emergency Services Department and the Mitchell County Regional Health Center. This position maintains the highest possible standards to provide the highest level of care and treatment to persons utilizing the ambulance service. This position may require staffing of Paramedic ERV (Emergency Response Vehicle) and responding to calls immediately and managing patients independently. The Paramedic is an allied health professional whose primary focus is to provide advanced emergency medical care for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical system. This individual possesses the complex knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and transportation. Must be familiar with and stay current with national EMS standards of best care practice and treatment. This position also helps with patient care in the Critical Access Emergency Department.
