SUMMARY UACDC is currently seeking an experienced Accounting Manager reporting directly to the CFO. The Accounting Manager provides support to and is a critical part of the organization's accounting department. The Accounting Manager works with management, vendors, clients and funders on a daily basis. The Accounting Manager must maintain an above-average level of accuracy, be organized, possess problem-solving skills, work well with fellow employees, vendors and clients, and have strong computer skills working with varied accounting software and MS Office particularly Excel. This position is an essential part of our financial management team, and will oversee organizational systems for gathering data, analyzing information, confirming the accuracy of finance reports and provide recommendations for improving accounting methods. This position will need to have thorough understanding of all types of financial operations and how they work together including revenues, expenses, assets, liabilities, payroll, capital expenditures and revenue and expense analysis. Knowledge of GAAP required, and non-profit experience is preferred. This position is sensitive in the nature of the role and confidentiality is a must. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Demonstrates understanding of the organization's mission and strategic plans. Detail-oriented with a passion for accuracy Superior data management and data analysis skills Work with CFO to prepare annual agency and grant budgets, monitor and revise as necessary Creates and implements financial policies and procedures and train staff on policies and procedures Perform financial management duties including generating financial data, compiling and submitting reports, analyzing industry trends and assessing the financial health of the organization Manage and complete the month, quarter and year-end close and assures adherence to US GAAP and complete reconciliations of balance sheet accounts ensuring accuracy of our financial records Coordinates periodic financial reviews/audits with outside audit and tax firms as required Provides all necessary information to outside accountants in conjunction with the filing of federal, state, and local tax returns for the organization Develop recommendations and implement improvements to internal controls processes striving to build a more robust Accounting and Finance department Review/Prepare monthly financial reports and communicate significant variances on a timely basis, including coordinating adjustments when needed Prepare monthly and annual financial statements for presentation to management the Board of Directors and other stakeholders. Establish, maintain, and monitor all financial systems in accordance with laws, GAAP, regulations and contractual requirements Ensure that all tax and other required governmental and contract filings are prepared and filed on-time Process financial data for management and external reporting requirements Manage, coordinate and monitor the implementation and evaluation of all financial strategic initiatives Evaluate the feasibility of opportunities and develop business plans and grant budgets Manage/supervise the following departments and staff: Accounting Other duties as assigned. POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field is required Two or more years of work experience as Accounting Manager or equivalent Leadership experience required Federal grant management/budgeting experience preferred Demonstrated ability to manage financial resources of small to mid-size organizations Ability to speak, read, and write English fluently Ability to work independently to meet desired outcomes with little supervision Ability and willingness to accept direction and follow established policies and procedures Ability and willingness to work harmoniously with community members and staff Ability and willingness to carry out duties while staying calm, courteous, and polite during stressful times Ability and willingness to show cultural competence in regard to nationality, race, sex, religion, and sexual preference of both community members and staff Good interpersonal skills Ability to maintain confidentiality of UACDC's information Must pass Level 2 background and credit check Excellent computer skills including all MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Knowledge of Paylocity, AvidXchange, Martus, Procore and Fund EZ is a plus.
