Position Purpose The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for all aspects of the financial operations for the agency. Reporting directly to the Executive Director (ED), the CFO provides accounting, budgetary, operational, and programmatic support to all agency programs and activities. The CFO directly oversees and supervises the financial/accounting staff and other departments as directed by the ED. The CFO is the primary agency contact for all contractual matters, proposals for new or extended programs and new business development. The CFO serves as an active member of the Executive Management Team helping to develop and implement the agency's vision and mission. This position requires the ability to create, communicate and maintain solid financial policies and procedures. This will include direct responsibility for strategic planning, job costing, legal, property management, investor relationships and partnership compliance. Manage the goals, objectives, and overall development of staff within the fiscal department. All Fiscal staff members including the CFO are required to abide by the Fiscal Personnel Code of Conduct. Minimum Qualifications BA/BS in Accounting or Finance required. MBA and/or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred. 10+ years in progressively responsible financial leadership roles with five (5) years in Head Start is preferred. Five or more successful years of progressive accounting/supervisory experience as a senior-level accounting professional. Experience managing non-profit finance (accounting, budgeting, control, and reporting) for a complex nonprofit with multiple funding sources including government (federal and state) contracts. Non‐profit accounting experience with multiple grant funding sources of at least $10 million or more annually preferred. Knowledge of finance and accounting in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Demonstrated skills in advising top management on issues related to accounting, internal controls, financial analysis, and strategic planning and interpreting a strategic vision into an operational model. Knowledge and experience in Head Start audits preferred. Must be highly ethical with a high level of integrity; self-motivated; dependable and reliable; detailed oriented; able to interface easily with staff, other senior management personnel and funding sources. Must be able to meet routine office physical demands including climbing stairs, handling 20-pound and possessing the dexterity and vision to operate office computers and equipment. Computer proficiency with ability to utilize word processing, spreadsheet, search engines, and other specialized software. Experience with SAGE MIP Accounting and Payroll System preferred.
