A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST / CLINICAL LABORATORY SCIENTIST As a Medical Technologist / Clinical Laboratory Scientist, you play an essential part in providing qualified lab services to our hospital patients. First and foremost, you perform accurate lab testing on patient specimens and review the results for accuracy and completeness before reporting. In support of this function, you also maintain lab equipment in good working order, help ensure an optimal inventory of supplies, and carefully perform daily quality control procedures. Leading by example, you assist the laboratory manager with the management of the lab department functions and personnel. Troubleshooting when necessary, you perform correlation studies, linearity, and calibration. You retrieve all monthly QC reports from the equipment and file or submit them appropriately. With attention to detail, you perform calculation, timer, and thermometer validations as well as the blood bank alarm test and temperature check. You are conscientious about following hospital and departmental policies and procedures while maintaining compliance with accreditation and regulatory agencies. Highly cognizant of their importance, you are always looking to improve quality, safety, and infection control. QUALIFICATIONS FOR A MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST / CLINICAL LABORATORY SCIENTIST Bachelor's degree in medical technology ASCP, AMT, or equivalent license At least 12 months of progressive experience in a hospital lab Solid understanding of all regulatory requirements Basic computer proficiency Do you have effective communication skills, both verbal and written?
