MNL, a leader in ecological restoration, has an opening for a Seasonal Equipment Operator to join our Vegetation Management team. Position Overview: The Seasonal Equipment Operator is responsible for running equipment on small to large scale ecological restoration projects throughout the state of Minnesota. This position requires equipment operation and strong communication skills with field staff and customers to carry out project tasks both accurately and safely from start to finish. This operator position will be heavily involved in vegetation mowing, vegetation management, prescribed burning, and a variety of other equipment operation and labor tasks as needed. This seasonal position has some flexibility, but the ideal candidate will be employed from April -S eptember depending on work location and weather conditions . There is potential for year-round employment outside of the growing season depending on workload and candidate availability. Duties and Responsibilities: Operates a variety of equipment, which includes agricultural tractors, trailers, skid-loaders, mowers, boom sprayers, zero-turn mowers , and ATV/UTVs, among other equipment, to complete a variety of vegetation management job duties. Strong ability to follow directions from Project Managers and Supervisors regarding schedules and site work expectations. Trucking of equipment as needed Performs necessary equipment repairs in the field and shop as able/necessary. Utilizes an ATV/UTV or water tanker for herbicide application or prescribed burning projects. Maintains work records and associated paperwork, including daily worklogs and herbicide treatments. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: Experience in working with landscaping or agriculture . Ability to identify plant species based on basic characteristics is a plus. Experience with the safe operation and general maintenance of tools and equipment, such as pumps, small engines, sprayers, tractors, ATV/UTVs, trailers, skid-loaders, mowers, and other equipment. Must have a class A CDL driver's license with air brake endorsement. Must have or be willing to acquire a Minnesota Pesticide Applicators license , paid for by MNL. Ability to read and navigate maps, as well as accurately follow directions. Basic computer knowledge, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, reach and move as needed in order to complete various vegetation management duties. Prolonged periods of time sitting or standing. Typical workdays are Monday - Friday (with optional weekends depending on workload and weather) This seasonal position has some flexibility, but the ideal candidate will be employed from late-April -S eptember depending on work location and weather conditions (with possibility of longer employment based candidate availability, p erformance and secured work) . Able to work long hours, which may include some early mornings and evenings. Able to travel daily to various worksites within the state with some overnight stays as needed .
