Type: Full Time Location: Wilford Hall, San Antonio (JBSA)-Lackland Reports To: ARMADA HQ Security Clearance Required: N/A********** CONTINGENT UPON PENDING CONTRACT MODIFICATION ************* Duties & Responsibilities: Instructors will provide classroom and field instruction to enhance the response in Emergency Medical Care and trauma situations for all military members. All services shall be provided in accordance with established certifications, standards, principles and ethics of the profession and applicable professional specialty organizations including the following: the Joint Commission standards, applicable Department of Defense (DoD) Defense Health Agency (DHA), National Association of Emergency Medical Technician (NAEMT), military specific regulations, directives, and policies, and Medical Training Facility (MTF) specific policies and procedures. The courses will be held 3 weeks a month, with a one-week break for manikin maintenance, supplies, environment review of the grounds and administrative duties. These instructors shall provide in classroom and field - education and training to prepare students to assess, advise, and react, effectively during emergency and/or trauma situations. Curriculum for EMT's and LVN, will be provided by the government. Training manikin checks and safety walk around of the field areas Provide a nursing overview for competencies. The course is designed for all different Air Force Specialty Code (AFSC) and having clinical personnel will buffer technicians with a para-professional person. Instructor shall coordinate field trauma training in collaboration with a wide array of healthcare professionals. The instructor shall facilitate the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to training in trauma care, quality and cost effectiveness. The required outcome result is to enable the Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic to react quickly and efficiently to real world emergency situations, when encountered with obstacles, by using the tools available in the performance measures. Instructor may assist in the development of the Benefit Cost Analysis (BCA). The program coordinator shall advise and assist the instruction provided by other healthcare professionals. Conduct research in support of improved practice and patient outcomes. Provide safe training environment - identify, track and report all safety hazards within the field training area. Assist program coordinator on educational program administrative requirements, to include maintenances of program, course, student/participant records, and preparation and submission of data and reports at the end of each course. Monthly/annual reports will be completed by the program coordinator with the assistance of the instructors. These monthly reports/annual reports are associated with the number of students, number of courses, Air Force Specialty Code/Military Occupational Specialties of the students, equipment usage, test results (pre-test/post test scores); etc. The purpose of these reports are to measure instructors' metrics and validate the programs efficiency. Other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs): The instructor shall provide quality standardized instruction in accordance with the established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the Joint Trauma System/Civilian agencies and MTFs. Contractors will teach per curriculum and demonstration compliance of skills/instruction Present all course materials in an effective fashion using didactic, hands-on and simulation training modalities. Provide course oversight for field, including instructional components of the standardized curriculum. Recognize discrepancies and develop solutions and reports them to the program coordinator. Provide course evaluation documentation to leadership, identify trends and opportunities for improvement. Course and Instructor shall be evaluated by the Program Coordinator and cadre instructors. Instructors shall be accountable for providing course assignments based on the scope of practice and skill level of assigned personnel. Recognize safety measures and quickly react in real world emergency and exercise situations. Communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the medical readiness posture. Maintain currency requirements based on certification. Develop or assist in the creation of marketing materials for conference and education events (i.e. conference brochure) Participate in continuing professional development programs as appropriate. Fulfill simulation course and operations for manikins utilized for field instruction. Participate in continuing professional development programs as appropriate. Verbalize knowledge of emergency response to life threatening conditions and medical response for all point of injuries. Demonstrate hands-on skills and provide safety environment for students to demonstrate skills. Demonstrate appropriate operations of all equipment and supplies to include manikins. Perform didactic and hands on skills for teaching students. Ensure infection control and safety measure are adhere to during set up and clean up Minimum/General Experience: The instructor must obtain and maintain the following courses within 6 months: Trauma Combat Casualty Course, Medical Provider Instructor course or instructor status in any advanced trauma field training course. Three years of experience in the last 5 years as a First Responder or Emergency Department Contractor shall possess and maintain unrestricted license to practice as an EMT in Texas. Must be able to lift 40 lbs and walk up to 200 yards without assistance. Duties are primarily outside in the environmental elements for example: rain, ice, wind, uneven terrain etc. Minimum Education / Certifications: Associate degree in healthcare with emphases on training/education is required from an accredited college or university. All contractors must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support Instructor Certification. EMT must possess a current National Registry of Emergency Technicians (NREMT) and/or Paramedic Certification. EMTs and Paramedics must possess and maintain certification as a National Association of EMTs.
