Garden Center Associate Studley's is Rochester's oldest flower shop. And there is a reason for that! Each job in our organization is important and as a team we work together to satisfy our customers. Seasonal employees also receive paid holidays and our employee discount! We have an immediate seasonal opening in our garden center and retail sales group. The person hired will primarily work in the greenhouse/garden center and maintain product by watering and pruning of plant material while pro-actively engaging and assisting customers. This job operates in an indoor and outdoor retail business environment so you will be working in various weather conditions. Must love to be outdoors in New England in the spring and summer months!The primary duties include but are not limited to the following: Plant and transplant greenhouse crops. Water, deadhead and maintain live inventory. Be knowledgeable about plants and their location in the greenhouses and garden center. Be aware of price changes, special sales. Accept any assignment on the general floor (any location or department.) Move, replace, and improve the presentation of plants. Load product onto carts or into vehicles. General maintenance (sweep, shovel, dust, and clean- including bathrooms.) Unload delivery trucks; promptly and carefully. Candidate Profile: Knowledgeable and interested in plants and related products Recent retail experience Pleasant demeanor and ability to engage with customers and customer service skills Willing to promote sales at any opportunity Willing and able to serve in any weather condition, out of doors Basic math aptitude Flexible as to shift, hours, or employment duration; weekend (Saturday and Sunday) availability is required Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment Work environment: Full-time or part-time seasonal position; core schedule will include Saturday and Sunday, with flexibility required, including holiday availability required Peak business periods will require extended workdays and work weeks Ability to lift up to 50 pounds This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing repetitively throughout the entire shift.
