Summary of Position The Community Music Center of Boston (CMCB) is seeking a motivated, creative, passionate, and community-oriented Music Therapist (MT). The music therapist will primarily work with adults with developmental disabilities at community sites throughout Boston. The music therapist will be a responsible, dependable, committed individual who will work diligently to help individuals meet their goals. They will provide culturally inclusive, client-centered, and accessible clinical services. Status : Part-time hourly, exempt Start Date : ASAP (as early as April 2023) Schedule: 4-8 hours per week in person , Monday to Friday, varies by community partner site Specific Responsibilities: Music Therapy Design and provide engaging, culturally inclusive, learner-centered, accessible, and motivating music therapy sessions that address client needs Collaborate with music therapy team and CECM to set customized treatment goals for clients Document assessments, weekly and quarterly progress reports, annual agency profiles, and/or other reports related to individual clients or client groups Develop and maintain constructive working relationships with direct service staff and administrative teams at community sites Communicate with caregivers as necessary regarding client progress Work with clients and site staff to develop mid and end-of-year culminating events when applicable (concert, recording, community event, etc.) Supervise Berklee College of Music undergraduate students as part of their practicum placement Qualifications Essential MT-BC required Must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S as CMCB is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time Must be able to comply with company-wide COVID-19 vaccination verification or regular testing requirement A minimum of three (3) months working with adults with disabilities, six (6) months preferred Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion as professional values and knowledgeable to their application in the field of music therapy Ability to adapt clinical work to the needs of partners, groups, and individual clients Proficiency in clinical musicianship, clinical improvisation, voice, and accompanying instrument. Ability to effectively plan, facilitate, and document music therapy sessions Excellent communication skills in conversing with students, community partners, families, and colleagues Positive attitude and growth mindset Working knowledge of Google Suite (Google Docs, Google Forms, and Google Sheets) and Zoom Preferred Demonstrated supervisory experience Bilingual skills are a plus but not required Access to a vehicle for transportation between sites Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the person in this position must be able to to remain in a stationary position 50-75% of the time. They need to occasionally move around the space to access teaching supplies and instruments and must be able to use a variety of instruments. They must also converse with students in a normal classroom setting and discern and recognize changes in tone, pitch, rhythm, and volume. They may occasionally move or transport supplies and instruments up to 10 pounds.
