Essential Functions The Senior Human Resource Generalist aids with and facilitates organization-wide human resources functions. Assists in the administration of human resources policies and programs, balancing employee advocacy and business operating needs. Promotes equity, fair treatment, and positive employee relations and ensures compliance with state and federal employment laws. Provides comprehensive HR support in talent acquisition, retention of critical talent, continuous performance coaching and management, pro-active issue/problem identification and resolution, and coaching and development for more effective leadership decision and communication skills. Understands and supports the accomplishment of business priorities. Build credible relationships with leaders throughout the organization, allowing for better decisions and organizational effectiveness. Involved in solving complex HR-related issues. Works independently with minimal guidance. May act as a resource for colleagues with less experience. Duties and Responsibilities Maintain the integrity and confidentiality of personal information, human resource files, records, and documentation. Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation while effectively communicating and executing necessary changes to policies and procedures. Assist management and employees on human resources issues, employment law, and develop new programs and initiatives to meet management needs. Perform advanced employee relations functions including support and counseling regarding personnel and job-related conflicts, problem solving and dispute resolution, managing employee performance issues, review and assessment of termination requests; conduct exit interviews. Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to managers and supervisors (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions). Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to the director. Conduct complex, thorough and objective employee-related investigations. Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal department as needed/required. Administer health and welfare plans, including enrollments, changes, and terminations. Processes required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions. Act as a liaison between the organization and external benefits providers and vendors, which may include health, disability, and retirement plan providers. Assist in the research, preparation, and report submission for various federal, state, and local compliance requirements. These include, but are not limited to, EEOC and Annual Federal requirements, Affirmative Action Planning, VETS-4212, BLS, ERISA, ACA and other insurance reporting, as well information needed to meet contract requirements. Perform audit functions, including audits of benefits, payroll, or other HR programs and recommends corrective action. Assists with preparation for external audits by providing necessary reports and documentation to the Director or other Summit 7 leadership. Assist with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, organization-wide meetings, employee recognition events, holiday parties, and retirement celebrations. Recruiting activities including applicant screening, conducting phone screen interviews, schedule and participate in departmental interviews, offer letter approval and delivery, coordination of testing and background check on candidates, and onboarding activities. Analyze trends and metrics to develop solutions, programs, and policies. Conduct internal investigations and provide recommendations for resolution or disciplinary action. Regularly review current Federal, State and/or local regulations and employment law changes to ensure company adherence to all requirements. Act as a representative of the company by promoting a positive, professional corporate image both internally and externally. Ensure HR credentials are maintained and remain current. Periodically attend training workshops, HR training sessions, etc.to earn continuing education credits and stay up to date on legal updates and best practices. Other tasks and duties as assigned. Job Specifications Must be able to maintain the highest level of confidentiality - this is non-negotiable requirement of this position! Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or a related degree combined with at least 5 years of HR generalist experience. Highly qualified applicants without a degree, with 10+ years HR generalist experience will also be considered. At least one nationally recognized HR Generalist certification. These include SHRM (SHRM-CP or or SHRM-SCP) or HRCI (PHR or SPHR) certifications and indicate an expertise and functional knowledge of the key human resource competency areas. Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, talent acquisition, employee relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy. Superb organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure. Strong business acumen. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Proficient with payroll management, human resource information system (HRIS), applicant tracking, and similar computer applications. U. S.
