Prepares and cooks all meals for patients, employees and visitors working from the posted menus, patient marked menus and patient diets as ordered by healthcare providers in accordance with the philosophy, goals and objectives of Howard County Medical Center. Responsible for cleaning required number of rooms to ensure compliance with established organizational standards. Cleans, maintains, provides sanitary linen throughout the facility in accordance with the philosophy, goals, and objectives of Howard County Medical Center. Hours/Schedule: Evening Shift: 1600 - 0030 Monday - Friday ***1,000 hiring bonus available***DUTIESPrepares and cooks all meals for patients, employees and visitors working from posted menus, patient marked menus and patient diets as ordered by physicians.a. Checks patient list of the day and adjusts tray set up for breakfast.b. Communicates with patients regarding menu options, like, dislikes, etc.c. Reads and follows diet cards for all meals.d. Makes the necessary food items for the next days menus, such as jello, salad or dessert.e. Plans for the next days meals by removing meat from the freezer, etc.f. Records freezer and refrigerator temperatures to ensure that the Medical Center is staying incompliance with stated and federal code.a. Follows the Nebraska Food Code.Ensures counters, kettles and utensils are cleaned and the meal count is recorded after each meal is finished.a. Cleans other areas of the Dietary Department as assigned by the Dietary Director.Prepares the patient satisfaction survey and distributes to patients.a. Responsible for collecting completed surveys.Orientates to computerized washers, chemicals, dryers, sewing machines, scales, and how to wash linens.a. Weighs linens from each department before washing, and record total pounds onto daily log sheet.b. Sorts linens and loads into washer and dryer as required.c. Folds linens, loads on cart, and distributes to appropriate areas.d. Mends any linens in necessary.e. Cleans equipment, counters, and floors in the Laundry Department on a regular basis.Notifies Patient Services Supervisor when additional linen needs to be ordered.Follows infection control and blood borne pathogen safety policies and procedures when handling soiled linens.Demonstrates Teamwork through collaboration, working well with others, concern for co-workers, and a team approach to accomplishing service and quality.a. Maintains a good working relationship with co-workers and immediate supervisors as well as with other departments.b. Utilizes, supports and encourages others to use the TeamSTEPPS tools to ensure the safety of our patients and better communication between co-workers, other Howard County Medical Center departments, patients and their families and organizations Howard County Medical Center does business with.c. Deals well with constructive criticism.d. Takes the initiative to accept responsibility in organizing new or difficult assignments.Cleans (dust, sweep, vacuum, mop) designated areas as assigned to include but not limited to: offices, patient rooms, non-patient areas and isolated areas.a. Power scrubs as needed.b. Cleans windows inside and out as scheduled.c. Empties all garbage and vacuum carpets daily.d. Cleans carpets thoroughly as needede. Buffs/burnishes all tile floors as scheduled, as well as stripping and waxing as needed.Maintains knowledge of all chemicals used and how to adequately use each one.a. Operates and properly maintains all cleaning machines.b. Follows safe and proper lifting and carrying techniques.c. Recognizes and reports hazardous and/or unsafe conditions.Demonstrates teamwork through collaboration, working well with others, concern for co-workers, and a team approach to accomplishing service and quality.a. Maintains a good working relationship with co-workers and immediate supervisors as well as other departments.b. Utilizes, supports and encourages others to ensure the safety of our patients and better communication between co-workers, other Howard County Medical Center departments, patients, and their families, and other organizations Howard County Medical Center does business with.c. Maintains confidentiality, is in compliance and follows HIPAA regulations.b. Follows all policies of the hospital and clinic.c. Follows and knows safety policies and procedures.d. Attends all scheduled meetings and participates in these meetings.e. Considers the impact of regulations in work that is produced and discusses concerns appropriately to ensure compliance.Performs other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONSHigh School Diploma or equivalentPrior cooking experience in a commercial setting preferredPrior laundry experience preferredPrior housekeeping experience preferred
