Senior Medical Collections Specialist

The Senior Medical Collections Specialist is responsible for mentoring and guiding a team of accounts receivable collectors. This person will act as a support to the Billing and Operations Manager. They will be responsible for training, adherence of the team to deadlines, data collections and reporting. A successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 years prior Medical Collections experience that includes multi-specialties. This individual must bring a proven track record of timely follow up, with consistent decreases in previous month AR reports. Previous leadership experience and a keen eye for details will set you aside. Essential Functions: Experience with professional /fee-for-service medical billing and ability to accurately code services. Review data on insurance policies to ensure accurate claim processing and payment. • Create, review, and submit claims accurately and timely. Ensure corrected claims are submitted in a timely manner if needed. Prepare materials for submission to insurance companies as requested. • Ensure unprocessed claims are followed up on timely. Develop and submit appeals, including supporting documentation as needed. • Contact clients to collect on outstanding account balances. Process and send statements as needed. Maintain confidentiality of patient care and business. Demonstrate strong, professional communication and interpersonal skills with clients, public, managers and co-workers. Perform general office duties and keep desk clean and organized. Maintain accurate and thorough records. Demonstrate the ability to act as a team player in a professional and positive manner. Review team productivity and help with training as needed. Review facility volume and activity monthly to assist the Billing and Operations Manager for reporting purposes. Assist the Billing Manager to conduct daily/weekly and monthly check-ins with teams. Monitor and assign daily tasks to ensure that all accounts are worked and touched daily Review daily productivity logs for completion Mentor and guide AR team daily Mandatory Minimum Requirements/Skills : Minimum of 3+ years current collections experience (Multi-Specialty preferred) Expert Level Knowledge of ICD10, CPT and HCPCs Coding Must have a high level of accuracy and attention to detail to satisfy job requirements Possess excellent organizational skills Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs Experience with professional (1500) and UB-04 claim forms Must have a high level of accuracy, excellent analytical, problem-solving and time management skills A committed work history that shows longevity and growth Proven track record of personal collections performance Environment/Work Atmosphere: All work is performed onsite remote work is not available Fast pace and busy A growing company that supports and encourages employees to pursue their passions Family oriented company Comfortable work/life balance with set hours Casual dress jean-friendly
