The UVM Alumni Association fosters lifelong relationships and engagement among the vibrant, global and diverse alumni worldwide driven by a common desire to preserve, celebrate and enhance the University of Vermont. As we prepare to expand these engagement opportunities, we are growing the UVM Foundation Alumni Relations team with new focus on recognizing the natural affinities that people hold and connecting like-minded alumni in meaningful ways.Successful candidates will be creative, collaborative and very comfortable using data to drive strategic thinking and program evaluation. Demonstrated achievement in volunteer and program management, as well as a clear commitment to, and experience with, issues of diversity and inclusion, essential. Essential Functions 50% Develop and implement a portfolio of strategic class year affinity programs that foster and strengthen ties between alumni and the University by developing, organizing managing and directing activity through milestone reunion-based program 0, 5, 10, 25, 40, 50 and Green and Gold. Initiate and maintain regular contact with alumni leaders, donors/prospects and volunteers throughout the country. Actively recruit volunteers to enhance engagement, affiliation and philanthropy with the broader University.15% Manage and support the UVM Alumni Associations awards program process. Collaborate with awards committee for the collection of nominations, collation of files, review of files and deliberation of nominations. Present Alumni Association Board of Directors with slate of candidates for approval that is representative of the UVM alumni community.15% Play an active, effective, team-oriented role in ensuring the success and attainment of alumni relations program goals to include planning special affinity based reunions in collaboration with the UVM Foundation events team; collaborate with stewardship and communications teams in creating and deploying alumni relations marketing materials; develop ways to promote services to our global alumni network; and increase visibility for the Alumni Association by partnering with the communications team to expand use of social media tools, such as UVM Connect, Facebook, Twitter and Linked In.15% Engage, involve and educate alumni and volunteers through telephone and face-to-face contact for the benefit of the University of Vermont Alumni Association. Develop travel and affinity engagement strategies to increase class-based participation, alumni donor participation, volunteer satisfaction and measured engagement with UVM.5% Other duties as assigned Minimum Skills & Abilities Team-oriented style combined with the ability and desire to achieve a high level of productivity and success Strong interpersonal skills and experience in exercising discretion in a complex and evolving environment Knowledge of principles and techniques of volunteer management or similar high-end sales and customer relations experience Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with an enduring commitment to education and lifelong learning Self-starter able to secure appointments through effective communication skills in person, in writing, and by phone Must be willing and able to travel within and outside of Vermont overnight for up to a week at a time approximately 15 times per year - a valid driver's license is required. Preferred Skills & Abilities Demonstrated achievement in volunteer management and/or event management Proven success in developing engagement strategies that lead to further investment and involvement Adept at navigating the need for road travel and in-office relationships and follow-up Excellent computer knowledge to include familiarity with development databases, social media, and systems Minimum Education & Experience Bachelor's degree and professional or volunteer experience in event planning, preferably in higher education OR any equivalent combinations of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skill and abilities have been achieved. Preferred Education & Experience Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of successful professional experience, preferably within an academic environment, non-profit or customer relations, or any equivalent combinations of education and/or experience from which substantial success and productivity have been achieved.
