The Climate Museum is hiring a Development Associate to play a generative role at the first climate-dedicated museum in the United States. The successful candidate will have the desire and ability to grow into a position of significant organizational leadership and the determination to fuel meaningful increases in capacity. This is an opportunity to join a dynamic new museum early in the process of scaling its public engagement and expanding toward a year-round location.The Museum's mission is to inspire action on the climate crisis with programming across the arts and sciences that deepens understanding, builds connections, and advances just solutions. More details on our first two years of programming can be found on our website .We aim to fill this spot as soon as possible. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis starting immediately. The final deadline for applications is February 28. Responsibilities Work with Museum Director to set goals and devise strategies for donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. Work with Museum Director to increase operational funding year over year, focusing on major gifts while securing support from foundation, corporate, and government sources and expanding the Museum's individual donor base. Manage and execute fundamental development and organizational tasks including stewardship of current donors, prospect research, preparation of materials, event management, timely processing of donations and gift acknowledgments, and supervision of interns. Write a wide range of donor communications and coordinate development outreach. Collaborate with programmatic and communications teams to create compelling digital and print content reaching a range of constituents. Support the fundraising efforts of all of the Museum's ambassadors, including board members, advisors, and donors. Manage the Museum's funder database through Salsa CRM. Lay the groundwork for an upcoming capital campaign. Qualifications Job Fundamentals: 4-6 years of relevant development experience, preferably in the political sector or at a non-profit Enjoyment of fundraising; comfort with asking others to contribute to a worthy cause Deep drive to make a positive impact Belief in the Climate Museum's mission Organizational Culture Fundamentals: Kindness and humor under pressure Flexible, creative, enterprising, and ambitious approach to personal and organizational growth Strong orientation toward collaboration and the success of the team Regular office hours are Monday - Friday, 10 am - 6 pm. In this start-up environment, staff members often work significant additional hours, with potential for comp time. Salary is competitive and based on experience.
