Description:
Purchasing Agent Responsible for procuring quality materials and components per specification cost effectively and ensuring timely delivery to meet production schedule. You should know how to evaluate market conditions and different suppliers. Communication skills will help you negotiate effectively and maintain profitable relationships. Essential Job Functions Procurement/Import of raw materials and miscellaneous plant components and equipment. Submit formal requests for quotation to reliable and competitive suppliers. Monitor purchase orders to ensure timely delivery within specifications - expedite materials and/or equipment to meet project schedule. Monitor and evaluate supplier performance related to quality, on-time delivery, and invoice accuracy. Assist and evaluate annual vendor agreements. Monitor said agreements when ordering equipment and high dollar value items. Assist with domestic transportation and exportation as necessary. Participate inventory cycle counting and annual inventory counting. Provide feedback to engineering and drafting/design to help ensure quality and on-time delivery. Other tasks as assigned by the Purchasing Manager. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Must be willing to learn the Visual Manufacturing system used for producing and tracking purchase orders, part inventories, MRP and deliveries. Negotiation, analytical, and math skills. Knowledge of sourcing, quoting, cost comparing and procuring of raw materials and components. Knowledge of import/export, HTS codes classification and customs clearance is desirable. Excellent verbal and written skills; ability to effectively work in a team environment. Attention to detail and accuracy. Education and Experience Bachelor Degree preferred 3+ years purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment required.
