Location: Springfield, VA Worksite: on-site Position: Full-time Schedule: Mon - Fri Hours: 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Duties/Requirements: The General Clerk Shall: • Utilizes controlled mail tracking software to receive, deliver, track, and provide current and historical data as necessary. • Receive a variety of documents, computer entry, document filing, and posts changes to permanent record books balancing the resulting figures against printouts. • Distributes and collects mail, determine, and affix postage and maintain records on postage, registered mail, and packages without direct supervision. • Collects and organizes all supporting mail documentation for filing as necessary. • Organize and maintain files of records and correspondence of both a routine and confidential nature. • Collect and organize all supporting mail documentation for filing as necessary. • Prepare mail and packages for shipment to various addresses as necessary. • Ensure outgoing mail is sealed and has the proper postage applied. • Receive mail and packages during normal hours of operation; inspects, date stamp, sort, and route mail to the final recipient. • be able to lift 50 pounds per package and maneuver up to 75 pounds. • possess general knowledge of an office environment. • be physically able to perform the assigned work which includes pushing a loaded mail cart up to the equivalent of four miles daily, lift bins and bags during mail delivery. • Knowledge and experience using the latest version of MS Word, Excel, etc. in the Windows Operating System environment. • Be required to use a CMTS device. Experience: Have a minimum of one-year general office experience, Education/Certification: High School diploma or equivalent. Shall be able to read, write and speak English fluently.
