Description The Litigation Support Team at Leidos currently supporting the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has an opening for a Paralegal to work in a Seattle, WA performing paralegal duties. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping the U.S. Department of Justice achieve their mission.The Paralegal shall be assigned to one or more Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs) and will assist in the support of Civil matters. The work requires a general knowledge of the legal processes, procedures, and practices and activities in conjunction with knowledge of clerical and administrative office skills and the ability to apply these skills to support Assistant United States Attorneys and other members of the litigation team.Typical assignments include but not limited to:Review transcripts of arraignments, bond hearings, pre-sentence reports and other proceedings where defendants' finances are discussed.Coordinate with the Asset Forfeiture Unit about assets.Prepare pre-sentence asset investigation reports.Review newly entered judgments and re-review established cases, which includes internet researching and generating Accurint, credit reports, requesting employment information from the Employment Security Department, etc.Prepare enforcement pleadings such as subpoenas, writs of garnishments, motions to disburse surplus proceeds in foreclosure cases, and discovery docs (interrogatories and requests for production), when required.Manage intake and processing of "2410s" (foreclosures and related actions involving properties subject to U.S. Government liens); solicit litigation reports from affected Government agencies, draft stipulations, and answers in routine cases, identify cases that require more significant AUSA attention.Draft correspondence with opposing counsel, debtors, courts, financial instructions, and others that is clear, concise, correctly formatted, and free form grammatical and spelling errors.Overtime and travel may be required as needed with proper authorization. Basic Qualifications:Requires paralegal certificate, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least one year of study.At least one year of litigation paralegal experience or project experienceMust have basic legal knowledge, including knowledge of standard legal citation to cite check legal motions and memorandum and must have sufficient experience with legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw to perform basic legal research.Thorough knowledge and hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems. Basic familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources.Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.Preferred Qualifications:Experience working in a Government and/or Litigation Support environment in conjunction with basic qualifications, valued.Trial experience very helpful.Current or active clearance.This position is covered under the Service Contract Act and is subject to minimum wage requirements as well as the minimum Health and Welfare benefit. Leidos will ensure that all provisions are met through their wages and benefits. Pay Range:Pay Range -The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline onlyand not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
