Job Summary: The Engineering Outreach Coordinator is responsible for the development and delivery of Engineering Outreach programs aimed for youth in the Grade 9-12 level. In collaboration with the Durham District School Board and Durham Catholic District School Board, the role will develop and execute a STEM plan to provide in-school and after-school learning opportunities for youth with a focus on developing digital skills to prepare students for future STEM based careers. The Engineering Outreach Coordinator will also oversee the Future Leaders in Training program to provide leadership opportunities for high school students, fostering professional development skills that will prepare them for future work opportunities. engineering. ontariotechu. ca/outreach/programming-for-youth/high-school-programs/index. php)Nature of work: Reporting to the Engineering Outreach Manager, the Engineering Outreach Coordinator is a high-energy leader who understands how to provide accessible STEM learning opportunities at the high school level. The Coordinator is able to create innovative programs that connects STEM concepts as seen in the Ontario Curriculum to post-secondary STEM education and societal challenges. Responsibilities/accountabilities: Develop agenda, activities, and programming for high school audiences. Depending on specific needs, activities may be making use of past resources, or developing activities from a blank slate. Programming must be appropriate for the audience. Solicit and manage registration for the program, train and supervise student staff and/or student volunteers, and backss program activities. Work closely with the school boards to develop a strategy for success within the program. Communicate with program principals & teachers before/during/after the program as appropriate.
