DMAH provides programs, grants, and funding opportunities for municipalities and community groups. The Department also provides services and guidance to municipalities in many areas including land use planning, budget planning and finance, infrastructure development, policy and program development, and support for economic development through the management of the Regional Enterprise Network program. The Executive Panel on Housing in Halifax Regional Municipality (Panel) was established in 2021 under the Housing in the Halifax Regional Municipality Act (Act). The mandate of the Panel is to recommend and implement strategies aimed at helping accelerate an increase in the supply of all types of housing in the HRM.
