Position Purpose & Summary Assistant Golf Course Superintendent will assist with the maintenance and day to day operations of the golf course and clubhouse grounds. The assistant superintendent carefully supervises the maintenance inputs to the golf course while conserving and protecting natural resources. He/ she will influence the playing areas and landscapes with which golfers interact. Essential Functions: Assists in planning and supervising the maintenance of greens, tees, fairways, and bunkers; schedules work; and supervises the employees and the use of the equipment. Inspects the golf course to determine any pesticide, herbicide, or fertilizer needs and communicates with Superintendent to implement these needs. Demonstrates the ability to lead by example. Conducts daily staff morning meetings, modifying the daily work schedule based on professional interpretation as needed. Assists in assessing the water needs of the golf course using visual inspections and analysis of data collected. Monitors the proper use, cleanliness, and security of maintenance facilities and equipment. Assists in monitoring agronomic programs as they relate to the golf course conditions and playability. Oversees the completion and assists with the completion of tasks and projects in a timely manner. Keeps the team focused on cohesion, working together, being proactive in helping each other and sharing information. Assists with the supervision and maintenance of the snow removal program. Deliver "I Am Proud" service standards and department-specific signature touch points. Establish cross-departmental channels of communication among teammates that are consistent and complete. Observe and adhere to safety guidelines. Marginal Functions: Perform other duties as assigned. Interface positively with other departments, offering assistance when needed. Displays care in use of equipment and maintains an organized and professional work environment. Position Requirements: Minimum Knowledge & Skills: Requires advanced knowledge of agronomy and turfgrass management practices; a working knowledge of golf facility construction principles, practices and methods; and a thorough understanding of the rules and strategies of the game of golf. Formal Education and Job-Related Experience: Minimum of an Associates degree in Turfgrass Management or related field . Previous experience as an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent License, Registration, and/or Certification Required: Qualified Supervisor for the Colorado Department of Agriculture External and Internal Personal Contact: Communications: Daily - Participates in daily department meeting Weekly - Participates in resort stand ups. Occasionally - Participate in one-on-one coaching sessions. Teamwork and Collaboration: This position requires continuous teamwork as well as internal and cross-departmental communication. This job is a team leader in the departmental work team. Has responsibility and accountability for team activities.
