Are you seeking a career in Public Health? Summit County Public Health is looking for a Clerical Specialist . The Clerical Specialist provides general clerical support to aide in the efficient operation of Summit County Public Health. Job Duties: Provides coverage for main SCPH reception desk; answers incoming calls for the agency, greets, assists, and provides directions to visitors; receives deliveries and notifies recipients of delivered items. Opens, sorts, timestamps and distributes incoming agency mail. Monitors and respond to requests for meeting room scheduling and fleet reservations. Provides customer service to in-person visitors obtaining certified vital record copies. Processes mail requests for births and death certificates. Scans, enters and amends weekly vital records data, searches and retrieves certificate information using automated and manual records management systems. Monitors and responds to faxed requests for governmental use only copies and verification requests of vital records. Handles and accepts fees from customers for the production of vital records. Balances cash, checks and credit card payment transactions with receipt data entered into the health district database at the end of each business day. Answers telephone calls and provides information specific to the vital statistics program and health district, including accepting and processing phone ordered birth and death certificate requests. Prepares and assists customers with correcting errors on statewide issued birth certificates and death certificates registered by the health district. Types and files routine forms, index cards, labels, letters and other materials. Verifies and assures public meeting rooms are locked and secure at the end of each day. Prepares, processes and maintains financial records. Posts a variety of accounting transactions to ledgers, journals or cash books. Verifies County postings of receipts from County provided reports. Sorts, counts, batches, and performs data entry; tabulates and balances records of documents processed. Travels from SCPH to County building to distribute/collect documents and/or deposits. Provides administrative support to management as required. Maintains excellent attendance and punctuality. Performs basic clerical tasks and provides routine office assistance. Provides initial contact with the public and /or visitors. Processes the completion of necessary paperwork required by SCPH, including receipt of fees for service. Prepares and processes data entry forms. Performs data entry activities relating to assigned program(s). Answers telephone and re-directs calls if necessary. Makes copies of correspondence and other printed material. Completes word processing tasks relating to standards, procedures, forms, letters, and miscellaneous documents. Enters, retrieves and updates information using a personal computer. Files and retrieves paperwork, charts, records and other documents. Distributes and processes mail. Assists in archiving records and preparing files for retention. Performs job duties under the regulations, policies and procedures set forth by Summit County Public Health and outside agencies such as the County Fiscal Officer, Ohio Department of Health, and state and federal government. Performs any other duties as required for the efficient operation of Summit County Public Health. Obliges, as set forth by the Summit County Public Health Emergency Operations Plan and within the scope of their employment, to be available for emergency service during routine and non-routine hours of operation including 24/7/365 availability. May be required to have medical clearance for respiratory protection or other personal protective equipment and may be exposed to inclement weather, extreme temperatures, unpleasant smells or odors, dust, dirt, fumes, airborne particles, pesticides, toxins or caustic chemicals Basic Requirements: This position requires a high school diploma. Current valid Ohio driver's license, automobile availability and insurance coverage. General clerical and office experience.
