You'd be joining a team of dedicated staff providing supportive family housing services to families who are involved with DCP&P. What you'll do as a parent advocate Engage and work closely with parents to understand their story, strengths and needs. Use a non-judgmental, compassionate, empowering approach to enhance a parent's desire for change. Assist parents in developing empowerment skills and combating stigma through self-advocacy. Assist parents in identifying their strengths, supports and resources to aid them in achieving their goals. Assist parents in their recovery and wellness. Using appropriate self-disclosure, share one's own experience to help explore a parent's motivation for change. Support parents in removing barriers toward service plan compliance with the division. Work collaboratively with their treatment team in determining the steps clients need to take in order to achieve their goals toward family stabilization. Community outreach and networking with community-based providers. Must have lived experience and be at least 2 years substance free. Must relate well to others. Strong work ethic; comfortable working independently. Experience implementing Motivational Interviewing preferred. Experience working with DCP&P involved families preferred. Must have and maintain a valid driver's license, use of an insured vehicle and an acceptable driving record.
