Research and Development - Mechanical Engineer II SUMMARY: Are you mechanically inclined and creative? As an R&D Mechanical Engineer II, you will apply your mechanical intuition and creativity to design performance, ergonomics, reliability, survivability and manufacturability into our market leading products. Primary Purpose: The Research and Development Mechanical Engineer II is responsible for researching, documenting and evaluating exciting new and innovative product design concepts, development of mechanical concepts and generating final mechanical drawings for products and/or manufacturing tooling. This position supports the creative innovation and new product development category of our business. Job Description: Research, document, design and test exciting and innovative components, products or systems. Create 3D models and assemblies using SolidWorks. Detail drawings for manufacturing and assembly of products. Build prototypes, products, and systems for testing; set up and run laboratory simulations. Help evaluate engineering approaches and risks. Conduct and/or participate in technical reviews of requirements, specifications, designs, codes, and other artifacts. Assist in identifying and organizing requirements. Apply usability procedures and principles at project or product-line level or through customer input. Design testing procedures and coordinate testing. Conduct tests, document results, and develop client presentations. Check drawings and models to ensure they are correct and complete. Other tasks assigned by management. Qualifications: Required: Curiosity and/or critical thinking skills for how things work or how can they be improved. A demonstrated high level of mechanical intuition. Hands-on experience with machining, welding, metal fabrication and injection molding (Plastic and/or Diecast). Ability to check drawings ensuring parts are fully defined, properly tolerance, and will fit and function properly with associated parts. Understanding of product development cycle, from concept to market. Strong analytical skills balanced with creativity and innovation. Strong effective communicator both verbal and written. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment of constant change. Self-directed individual who works well within a team environment. Minimum 3 years of experience in R&D mechanical engineering and/or new product development. Preferred: Proficient with SolidWorks 3D modeling and detailing. 5 to 10 years of experience in a mechanical engineering, new product development, or sustaining engineering role. Generator, battery and other energy storage system knowledge is preferred. 3D printing experience. Previous experience in the Outdoor Power Equipment or Power Tools industry is a plus. Experience working in a multi-channel retail business/industry. Education/Certification: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or in a similar discipline. Job Posted by ApplicantPro
