CATHEDRAL BASILICA OF SAINTS PETER AND PAUL AND THE SHRINE OF SAINT KATHARINE DREXEL PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT SUMMARY The Director of Development works independently and in conjunction with the Rector and Parish Finance Council to provide for the patrimony, current and future financial security and growth of the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul and the Shrine of Saint Katherine Drexel. The Director of Development will mature existing and establish new relationships within and outside the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and the Roman Catholic community to develop and increase the financial resources of the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul and the Shrine of Saint Katharine Drexel. This is a full time position with an office located in Philadelphia subject to the stipulations and benefits for such a position according to the regulations of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. DESCRIPTION The following responsibilities describe the role of the Director of Development: Identify, solicit and establish prospective donors through phone calls, written/electronic communications and personal visits. Utilize available public and proprietary research to create at least 5-10 opportunities monthly to introduce to the Rector new donors. Contribute to, present and follow up consistently on communications assets that promote the mission of the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul and the Shrine. These assets may include proposals, news updates, research, and social media. This should take place in connection with the ministries in the Cathedral Parish and with civic and neighborhood organizations. Build and manage ongoing relationships with 50-75 prospective donors annually by meeting with them and educating them on the mission and impact of the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul and the Shrine of Saint Katharine Drexel. Manage and regularly update a prospective donor file and ensure data accuracy and integrity. Produce annual income that exceeds your compensation. Collaborates with the Rector, the Parish Finance Director, the Parish Pastoral Council, the Parish Finance Council and its Development Team, to create and execute systems, programs, and special events to attract new donors, encourage planned giving and new fundraising opportunities. QUALIFICATIONS The ideal candidate will possess the following education, experience and attributes: Education and Experience Bachelor's degree required along with three to five years of A demonstrated track record of success in securing major gifts of $100,000 or more for Catholic non-profits or foundations, including knowledge of principles and best practices for development programs and systems, including grant writing skills. Experience in introducing concept of and securing planned gifts, including but not limited to bequests, life estates, retirement plan beneficiary designations, charitable gift annuities, charitable lead trusts and charitable remainder trusts. Knowledge of and experience utilizing MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point) Knowledge of and experience utilizing donor database Experience in leveraging online networking platforms (LinkedIn, ) and other social media platforms to increase connections and engagement opportunities. Key Executive Attributes Excellent communication skills that include effective verbal and written proposal development and presentation. Accomplished in developing relationships and working with Catholic donors by linking their values and priorities with the mission of the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul and the Shrine of Saint Katharine Drexel. Exemplary ability to leverage referrals, research and networking opportunities to promote the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul and the Shrine of Saint Katherine Drexel to prospective donors and various constituencies within the Church. Self-starter with pro-active approach to setting and achieving goals in a timely Confident and assertive, but with a team player mentality with the ability to be flexible based on changing circumstances all subject to a 6 and 12 month review.
