Job Description Under supervision, is responsible for general maintenance, repairs and alterations to the building structure, furniture, equipment, and appliances Job Responsibilities • following the preventive maintenance schedule is followed for all building structures, furniture and equipment; • liaising with staff regarding maintenance requests, estimates, and scheduling; • performing repairs and alterations to the building structure and contents; • performing regular inspections and training in the proper use of equipment; • following a painting schedule for all painted surfaces and fixtures; • requisitioning stores, maintaining an inventory and auditing materials used; • assists in performing maintenance and repairs to equipment as may be required; • making recommendations on the suitability and effectiveness of new or modified equipment; • maintaining workshop in clean and safe condition. • assisting in overseeing the work done by contractors in the areas of landscaping, plumbing, pest control, parking, roof, and exterior window cleaning to ensure that contractual and procedural obligations are met Qualifications • Secondary school graduation with several years’ experience in general building maintenance or equipment repairs; • good working knowledge in the operation and maintenance of hand and power tools and specialized medical equipment; • trade skills including basic plumbing, machinery, hydraulics, landscaping, and blue print reading; • physical ability to carry out maintenance functions; • good understanding of all environmental and building safety responsibilities including maintenance, fire and emergency preparedness, building security, WHMIS and infection control; • experience and knowledge of computers and various computer software applications including word processing, spreadsheet, drawing and database applications; • ability to direct others and to deal effectively with co-workers, residents, contractors, suppliers and other clients; • ability.
