If you are seeking a meaningful role where you can make a real difference improving and growing our City, we welcome you to explore the job opportunities we have to offer.Posting: Open Until FilledSalary: Commensurate with experienceGeneral Description and Classification StandardsPerforms skilled technical work in the maintenance, repair, replacement, and installation of heating, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment, controls and distribution systems. Assists the immediate supervisor with system updates of crew members assignments and time management for each job assignment. This is a fully seasoned skilled level capable of independently carrying out most assignments typical of the discipline. This level would be attainable by multiple incumbents in a work group (not necessarily by all) but would not be an "automatic" promotional level. Supervision Received Works under very general supervision. May work independently or with other skilled or semi-skilled workers with responsibility for completion of assigned tasks.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesThese are typical responsibilities for this position and should not be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. May perform other duties as assigned. Installs, repairs and operates heating and air conditioning units, water coolers and refrigeration units in assigned facilities. Directs, monitors, inspects, and calibrates equipment to ensure proper working order; maintains equipment to ensure continuous operation which includes charging system with refrigerants and recovery of refrigerants in compliance with environmental regulations. Troubleshoots malfunctioning heating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems to determine the cause of the malfunction. Provides technical assistance with the design of HVAC systems including installations and modifications to existing systems; Read blueprints, equipment diagrams and drawings to properly layout projects. Attends supervisor meetings and writes daily reports for crew when supervisor cannot attend. Informs the crew about any information received at supervisor meetings Prepares and submits requests for supplies and equipment; maintains an accurate record of materials and supplies used. Responds to emergency service requests in a timely and effective manner.Decision MakingSelects from multiple procedures and methods to accomplish tasks. Makes purchasing or resource allocation decisions within organization guidelines. Leadership Provided Routinely provides work group leadership, guidance, and/or training to less experienced staff.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesThis is a partial listing of necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job successfully. Knowledge of HVAC terminology; knowledge of safety procedures; knowledge of HVAC principles and techniques; knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of HVAC maintenance and repairs. Skill in operating recovery equipment, tools, and UV leak detection equipment; skill in operating a forklift, bucket truck, cranes, and various tools and meters used to perform daily job duties; skill in operating basic hand tools such as a power drill. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Qualifications Education and ExperienceHigh school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED). 3 years' of experience performing maintenance on HVAC systems.Preferred Education & ExperienceCompletion of Technical or Vocational course of study in HVAC and 5 years' of experience performing maintenance on HVAC systems. Licensures and Certifications E.P.A Certification required. Valid State of Georgia Drivers License required.Essential Capabilities and Work EnvironmentRequired physical, lifting, and sensory capabilities are requirements to perform the job successfully.
