Job Title: Interventional Radiologist. Job Summary: SANFORD is seeking Interventional Radiologist s who possess both an American Board of Radiology (ABR) certification in General Diagnostic Radiology as well as specific current Board Certification in Interventional Radiology. Contract Radiologists shall be required to have a faculty appointment with an accredited institution radiology department to provide instruction to participants in the ECHCS/RMRVAMC Radiology Residency Training Program in full compliance with the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) standards. The candidate shall be available by cell phone, pager, or other means of communication when on call during off tour and regular business hours on weekdays, 24 hours on weekends, and 24 hours on federal holidays. Services, when required, shall be available for on call coverage and callbacks during off tour hours, weekends, and federal holidays. Off tour hours are based on an 8-hour shift, Monday through Friday; coverage is needed 24 hours for weekends and 24 hours for federal holidays. The candidate, when required with proper notification, shall also be available for onsite, full time Interventional Radiology services on any given weekday, based on an 8-hour shift. The needs of the ECHCS/RMRVAMC are based on estimated work and possible fluctuations of work may occur. Place of Performance: VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System (ECHCS) located at 13701 E Mississippi Ave STE 200, Aurora, CO 80012, and Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center (RMRVAMC) located at 1700 North Wheeling Street. Aurora, CO 80045. Duties: Pursuant to the ECHCS/RMRVAMC peer review policy, Contract Radiologists are required to document and report significant complications related to interventional radiology procedures performed at the ECHCS/RMRVAMC to the RMRVAMC’s Interventional Radiology Section Chief, who is responsible for presenting peer review cases and communicating with the multi-institutional Interventional Radiology review committee, which includes the RMRVAMC as well as other accredited and affiliated institutions, within 30-60 days of the event. An alternative Interventional Radiology peer review committee may be utilized upon the concurrence of the Chief of Imaging, ECHCS/RMRVAMC. The RMRVAMC Interventional Radiology Section Chief shall create a report that includes a detailed description of the procedure and circumstances of the incident as well as subsequent management to include morbidity. The report shall be sent to: Chief of Imaging Service, ECHCS/RMRVAMC (or surrogate), 1700 N Wheeling St, Aurora, CO 80045. The multi-institutional IR review committee shall provide a report of their opinions and recommendations with respect to the incident. The Interventional Radiology Section Chief shall coordinate the reporting with the Chief of Imaging, ECHCS/RMRVAMC and communicate with the VA surgical review group as necessary. The findings of the group with respect to Level I, II, or III peer recommendations must be forwarded in writing to the Quality Management service ECHCS/RMRVAMC and the Chief of Imaging, ECHCS/RMRVAMC within 5 working days of the review group meeting. In addition, the Contract Radiologists shall perform routine and intermittent OPPE/FPPE case review of permanent VA Interventional Radiologists as required by VHA Central Office. OPPE/FPPE review of Contract Radiologists shall be completed or provided upon request. The candidate shall provide 3/5ths on call coverage in rotation with permanent VA Interventional Radiology physicians as scheduled by mutual agreement between the Chief of Imaging, ECHCS/RMRVAMC and the candidate. Contract Radiologists shall be available for on call coverage during WHEN (weekend, holiday, evening, and night) hours, based on a normal Monday through Friday 8-hour shift, 24 hours on weekends, and 24 hours on federal holidays. Any alternate coverage must be approved in advance by the Chief of Imaging, ECHCS/RMRVAMC. The candidate shall provide appropriate access numbers to be used by clinical providers requesting consultation. The candidate shall not be obligated to provide services to other sites of care while on call for ECHCS/RMRVAMC. Contract Radiologists shall be available to provide direct consultative and/or case reviews of Angiography/Interventional procedures within 10 minutes of a call from the requesting provider. The candidate shall review requests and schedule studies as appropriate in concurrence with patient management principles. 1. Contract Radiologists shall provide 3/5ths on call coverage in rotation with permanent VA Interventional Radiology physicians. 2. The candidate shall be available for onsite dayshift Interventional Radiology coverage, Monday through Friday, no less than 52 days per 12 months and as needed for coverage, based on an 8-hour shift. 3. Contract Radiologists shall perform a variety of Interventional Radiological examinations to include but are not limited to: Arteriograms, Venography, Vascular Stenting, Angioplasty, Interventional Thrombolysis/Embolization, Carotid/Cerebral, Angiographic, and other miscellaneous interventional procedures; Computed Tomography/Ultrasound guided biopsies and drainages; and Gastrointestinal (GI) interventional studies. All orders must be processed to include dictation of all related CPT coded orders utilized during the procedure before the Contract Radiologist departs the facility. If an onsite interventional study is required, the contract Radiologists shall provide comprehensive consultation services located at the Interventional Radiology service ECHCS/RMRVAMC and assume all Interventional Radiology attending responsibilities regarding the triage, scheduling, and performance of interventional radiology related procedures. Services include but are not limited to: Contract Radiologists shall perform all interventional radiology services onsite at the ECHCS/RMRVAMC. Contract Radiologists shall respond to on call services within 10 minutes and be onsite at the ECHCS/RMRVAMC within 60 minutes of notification. WORK SCHEDULE a) The Chief of Imaging, ECHCS/RMRVAMC and the candidate shall complete a work schedule, which establishes the dates and times that the candidate shall provide services as needed. The work schedule shall be made available at least 2 weeks prior to the 1st day of the month. b) The work schedule shall not be altered or substituted by the candidate without prior approval from the Chief of Imaging, ECHCS/RMRVAMC. The candidate shall receive a monthly work assignment schedule from the Chief of Service, ECHCS/RMRVAMC. The work schedule shall include relevant information of the contract Radiologist(s) assigned to the interventional radiology responsibilities. Qualifications: American Board of Radiology (ABR) certification in General Diagnostic Radiology as well as specific current Board Certification in Interventional Radiology. Why SANFORD?
