Department of Environment and Climate Change (novascotia. ca) About Our Opportunity Reporting to the Executive Director Sustainability& Applied Science, the Director is the leader in Nova Scotia Environment and Climate Change (ECC) responsible for programs related to solid waste, contaminated sites, waste dangerous goods, pesticides, and air quality as well as the development and leadership of the Province's strategic approach in these subject areas. The Director works collaboratively to ensure that mechanisms are in place to support effective program delivery, and to achieve the department's vision and goals as defined in the Environmental Goals and Climate Change Reduction Act (EGCCRA). They will also be responsible for leading a staff complement that supports the work of the department by providing professional, scientifically sound, technical advice related to these programs. Primary Accountabilities The role is involved in: Leading program management to ensure departmental legislation, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures are effective in managing risks. Planning, developing, and directing the implementation of Provincial environmental strategies, programs and policies designed to protect human and environmental health and to support sustainable development.
