CATALOG, a Boston-based pioneering startup, is making significant strides in the field of data storage and computation by harnessing the power of DNA. DNA, known for its millennia-long stability, unrivaled information density, and cost-effective replicability, offers revolutionary potential for latency-tolerant high-density data storage and massively parallel computation. We are seeking a System Software engineer to interface with our DNA based storage system software. In this role, you will: Drive technical projects that involve bringing together firmware and hardware into fully functional subsystems and prototype devices Lead the development of control algorithms, optical controls, and calibration procedures for hardware-based biological devices Collaborate with the hardware, molecular biology, and software teams to develop scalable software architecture and automation tools Writing software for data acquisition, retrieval, and processing Evaluate and improve performance of the DNA based storage system software Write C# code that is high quality, well tested, and ready for production Contribute to peer-reviewed articles and patents that communicate CATALOG’s vision and protect its IP We are looking for someone driven by: The thrill of building ground-breaking technology The challenge of solving difficult cross-disciplinary problems Creativity and insight at the intersection of biology and engineering You will also need to be able to: Thrive in a changing but supportive environment Work collaboratively in small, cross-disciplinary teams Plan and execute independently Ideally, we are looking for someone with: Demonstrated experience working with automated devices, systems, or robotics Excellent knowledge of python, C/C++, C#/Java Knowledge of microcontroller architectures BS in Computer Science, Computer, Electrical, or related engineering field (Advanced degrees a plus) A career at CATALOG will challenge you to think critically and work creatively in order to conquer new problems in an unexplored and groundbreaking field.
